Summary

Benjamin Dumfee awakens from a 40 year coma but to his dismay, he has aged. Amazed by his consciousness, the staff asks him all sorts of questions. But he is disturbed by a strange communication he keeps receiving from Dorothy, a young coma patient. He begins to communicate with her to her parents dismay. After some doubt, they finally believe that he can hear her. They beg him to talk to her in hopes to break her from her coma. Suddenly, Ben tries frantically to make sure Dorothy doesn't cross over to the nowhere place. She wants to because someone is promising her that she will fly if she crosses. Finally, as she starts to cross over, Ben angrily demands they take him in place of Dorothy. He gets heated up and collapses. As he dies, Dorothy awakens. Almost immediately, she is asking where Ben is. Her parents try to keep her from the dead body, but she demands, after all, she can now hear him... She converses with Ben until he crosses over. She turns to mother and says "He can fly now."
