     It is a small village which Guruji has chosen in order to spread the Gospel of Sri Gnanananda Swami, His Master. This place is also called as Dhakshina Halasyam. It has one interesting history behind it. It is located in between Chennai and Kanchipuram. It is 32 kms far from Kancheepuram and 100 kms far from Chennai. Buses are available from Chennai.  

   There is a saying in Tamil, 'one should not live in a place where there is no temple'. Guruji has constructed a lots of temple in this village. Each temple has an interesting event at the time of construction.  

Sankeerthana Mandapam    Guruji has established a hall with all the Bhagavatha Saints with their images have been decorated beautifully and it is unique. It carries the message of 'Sage Suka' in its physical form.

More than 1000 persons can accommodate in this hall and this has a huge stage to conduct discourses and other like gatherings.

Veda Patasala    There is a Veda Patasala based on the Gurkula System being run under the leadership of Brahmashree Sukabrahmam Ramamurthy Sastrigal. Apart from Vedic education, general proficiency in English and allied subjects are imparted to students.
  • Apart from these, there is a big dining hall with well equipped kitchen where around 2000 people can accommodate at one go.
  • Guruji has also constructed an old age home with 50 independent rooms with all the facilities for those who had no help from their families. Accommodation is also available for short stay.
  • A dispensary is being run. Every week Doctor will come and provide medical consultation.
  • STD facility is also there.
  • Thennangur is being selected as one of the tourist center by Tamilnadu Tourist Development. They arrange buses from Chennai.

    Bhaktotsavam

   Every year in Pandarpur, the birthday of Sant Namdev is celebrated as Ashada Ekadasi. Similarly in Thennangur, this is celebrated for five days as Bhaktotsavam and the fifth day is celebrated as Ashada Ekadasi. Each and every day both morning and evening, Bhagavathas and Bhaktas perform namasankirtan and Lord Panduranga will be decorated in a grand manner and taken for procession in a different vahana to round the whole village.

   With the ever flowing grace of Sathguru Maharaj, Gokulashtami & Mahapuja celebrations of Guruji conducted in the immediate presence of our Sri  Swami Namananda Giri at our Ashram complex, Dakshina Halasyam, Sri Gnanananda Giri Peetam, Thennangur  was a grand success.

   The Festival commenced on 19th of August with Bagavatha Sapthaham by Dr N Babu Dikshitar of Sengalipuram ( parayanam and discourses ) for seven days till 25th August. The Sri Krishna Janmashtami festival on 22nd was participated by a large number of Bhagavathas and devotees. The thrilling Gokula Nandotsavam was conducted on 26th forenoon.

   Guruji Mahapuja commenced at Sri Matam with Satha Kalasabishekam, Guru Paduka Pooja amidst prayer songs, veda parayanam, homam and other rituals. Special Namasankirthana Mela by Bhagavathas with Prabhathpheri in the mornings and Divyanamam at nights were soul stirring.

   Chandana Kaapu Alangaram of Sri Panduranga-Rukumayee on 28th - the Maha Puja Day was unique, made audience spellbound.

   The traditional Vasthradhanam and Mass Annadhanam were special features.
