Tooting Bec Castle
Phase V
Now I'm starting to get into the details, which is very satisfying.  Here you can see that I've used some wooden molding to represent the pediment and also the support structure which will hold up the merlons once they're ready to be added.  The round towers present a problem here, and I have decided to try sculpting the molding sections that I will need for them.  I have also begun work on the minarets, although this is proving to be a problem as well. (See how YOU CAN HELP)  Most of the texturing for the flooring of the ramparts is in place, as well as some of the texture for the main walls.  Because I wanted to see how the roofline would look, I have installed a temporary roof over the main entryway made from an old GW box.

I'm going to call this element the "Archer's Tower".  The right picture shows the floor texture.

I was conflicted about having this small sally port on the side of the castle, but it looked really nice, so I decided to include it, regardless of whether or not it's very defensible. :)  Besides, I can always make up special rules for it.  I used a Mordheim door frame, with the skulls and "evil bits" filed away.  Maybe I'll replace them with unicorn heads?  Pic at the right gives a better view of the outer wall texture.

Details from the front and rear.  Still a long way to go here, but I liked the pics and, after all, this IS a vanity site! :)
