This local historical site was part of a 1756 British Fort built as part of a line of supply and communication Forts built for the protection of the Colonial frontier during the French and Indian Wars. The British Generals Braddock and Forbes used this site for provisions, communication and assembly of Indian allies. George Washington was a part of the expeditions.  The site is also where a rebellion placed residents against the British government where shots were fired against the British a few years before the Revolutionary War.

Our camp represents that of a 1700’s trade fair where neighbors, traders, hunters and Indians would gather to trade, buy, and sell supplies such as furs, produce and crafts. It was a social gathering lasting a few days to a few weeks where frontier skills were practiced in competition, stories of high adventure swapped and news of the events of the colonies, of family or friends were exchanged.

We are a non-profit group whose wish is to share our precious historical past with all who come to visit us.  One of our goals is to help with the preservation of the Fort Loudon historical site for future generations to enjoy and to promote understanding of our Colonial beginnings.

Plan to come for the day and learn about Colonial history and life in the 18thCentury
