CHARISMATIC AND PENTECOSTAL
DETECTOR

This is a comparison study between the charismatic and pentecostal dogma and Biblical truth. Please be open to be taught by God as to what His Word says and take the time to look these references up in your own bible.
(dogma: a self-willed opinion held in place of the truth)

1. Charismatic Dogma:
“Salvation is conditional; you can lose your salvation.”

1. Biblical Truth:
Salvation is UN-conditional. John 5:24; 6:37; 10:28

Once saved, ALWAYS saved. Ephesians 1:8 & 9; Romans 8:1

You are mistaken and not understanding the Scriptures, or the power of God.

2. Charismatic Dogma:
“God does not keep His promises: He CAN break them.”

2. Biblical Truth:
God DOES keep His promises. Hebrews 9:15; Philippians 1:6; Titus 1:2; Hebrews 10:23

3. Charismatic Dogma:
“God can CHANGE His mind about salvation.”

3. Biblical Truth:
God says: “I change not!” Malachi 3:6; Numbers 23:19; Hebrews 6:17; 13:8; James 1:17; Psalm 119:89

You are mistaken and not understanding the Scriptures, or the power of God.

4. Charismatic Dogma:
“If you sin by backsliding, you can lose your salvation.”

4. Biblical Truth:
That is Satan’s lie. Even your sin of backsliding was PAID IN FULL at the cross, so if you backslide as a Christian, you REMAIN saved. All your future sins were paid for, ONCE FOR ALL, by Christ’s blood. If a Christian backslides, he will be physically punished until he either repents or dies. It is Christ’s work in heaven, right now, to intercede for you and KEEP you saved when you do backslide. 1 John 2:1 & 2; Colossians 2:13&14

5. Charismatic Dogma:
“Once-saved-always-saved is a teaching that encourages sinning.”

5. Biblical Truth:
Once-saved-always-saved teaches you that you are NOT to sin. Romans 6 (entire chapter); 1 John 3:9 & 10

You are mistaken and not understanding the Scriptures, or the power of God.

6. Charismatic Dogma:
"You should always confess and repent of your sins, or you may lose your salvation and go to hell."

6. Biblical Truth:
You should always confess your sins or you may be physically disiplined. Psalm 119:67, 71; Proverbs 3:12; Hebrews 12:6-14, Revelation 3:19

If you don't repent, you may DIE physically. 1 Corinthians 11:28-30

7. Charismatic Dogma:
"You must repent to keep yourself saved."

7. Biblical Truth:
You must repent to keep FELLOWSHIP with God our heavenly Father, or you lose friendship, NOT His salvation that He's given to you. 1 John 1:6-9; Proverbs 28:13

You are mistaken and not understanding the Scriptures or the power of God.

8. Charismatic Dogma:
"WE can change OUR mind about salvation and lose it."

8. Biblical Truth:
You need to confess the sin of pride. We never had anything to do with salvation except to simply BELIEVE it. It then becomes God's responsibility to keep us saved, not ours. You can't KEEP yourself saved nor can you GET yourself saved. You couldn't do it before you were saved and you can't do it after you are saved. If WE change OUR mind, God MUST be faithful to His promises anyway and so He KEEPS us saved in spite of OUR dumb ideas that we can lose our salvation. God will keep His promise even if we don't. 1 John 5:18; Jude 1 & 24; Ecclesiastes 3:14.

You are mistaken and not understanding the Scriptures or the power of God.

9. Charismatic Dogma:
"You cannot know for sure if you are going to heaven BEFORE you die,...but I hope I will."

9. Biblical Truth:
You CAN know for sure if you are going to heaven because God promises it and the bible says you CAN KNOW it. 1 John 5:11-13, 18, 20

TRUE Christians don't "hope so", they KNOW so.

10. Charismatic Dogma:
"Eternal life is like a "life insurance policy: if you stop paying the premiums (backslide), the insurance stops and so does eternal life."

10. Biblical Truth:
Eternal life is like an insurance policy, but the premiums are all paid up by the blood of Christ, not by you. Eternal life pays off, no matter what foolish thing you will do to try to cut yourself off from God. A Christian who commits the sin of suicide, goes to heaven, but loses ALL his reward. 1 Corinthians 3:15; Hebrews 10:38; 1 Samuel 31:4; 11:6; 2 Samuel 1:23 (Saul and Jonathan were united in heaven); 2 John 8

11. Charismatic Dogma:
"God can take away His salvation from us." OR "We can reject God's eternal life after we have received it."

11. Biblical Truth:
You are denying the Lord that bought you either way. Read 2 Peter 2:1 & 2; Psalm 94:14; 119:142

You have been led astray by false teachers and probably have never been saved. I urge you to GET SAVED now. 2 Corinthians 6:2

12. Charismatic Dogma:
"But we believe in tongues and prophecy and gifts. Only true Christians have those things."

12. Biblical Truth:
Such things do not prove you are saved. Those gifts existed ONLY during the Apostolic age, before the New Testament bible was written. When the last apostle died....the gifts of tongues and prophecy ceased. You have been led astray by false prophets. Reread 2 Peter 2:1 & 2; 1 Corinthians 13:8-10. What you are doing is delusional and possibly demonic.

You are mistaken and not understanding the Scriptures or the power of God.

13. Charismatic Dogma:
"I say that speaking in tongues PROVES that one HAS the Holy Spirit. Since you guys don't speak in tongues, you DON'T have the Holy Spirit!"

13. Biblical Truth:
Hold on there! You know what your problem is? You haven't read and understood the Bible. You have never read 1 Corinthians 12:29 & 30. It says very clearly... "All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers or miracles, are they? All do not have gifts of healings, do they?"

Paul was chiding the Corinthians for not knowing that the gifts of the Spirit are NOT equally given to all Christians. Not all Christians have the same gifts. That is what the bible teaches. So, you are wrong in what you say.

14. Charismatic Dogma:
"In Mark 16:17, Jesus Christ Himself, and not Paul says: 'And these signs will accompany those who have believed: in My Name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues.'"

14. Biblical Truth:
I believe Jesus said that too, but finish reading the sentence Jesus was speaking. You stopped in the middle of His sentence because He continues in verse 18 the same sentence and what else does He say? He says: "...they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it shall not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

Jesus says a true apostolic follower in His day will do 5 things. Now, when was the last time you picked up a deadly snake like a cobra, rattlesnake or viper, and when did you drink arsenic, strychnine or sulphuric acid to PROVE that you were the kind of believer that Jesus is talking about? Don't take the "tongues" part out of context to justify yourself and ignore the snakes and poison. You've have to do all five things to prove that you are an apostolic follower, or you are not.

But now I want to caution you! Don't handle venomous snakes or drink any poison because you will die! Jesus was referring to His apostolic followers IN HIS AGE, not ours. And since these signs have ceased, you would die. Worse than that, if you are not really saved, you might also die and drop into hell.

So, first get saved, and then study the bible with true believers who know the bible because: you are mistaken and not understanding the Scriptures or the power of God.

15. Charismatic Dogma:
"But I must keep cleansing myself by repenting of my sins and reapply Christ's blood to keep myself saved."

15. Biblical Truth:
ALL OUR SINS...for our whole lifetime...were paid off completely at the moment we are saved. This is what you don't seem to grasp as of yet. ALL YOUR SINS...even those not committed yet...were forgiven and nailed to the cross. Your certificate of sin debt is now FULLY PAID. Colossians 2:13 & 14

I agree you should repent, confess your sins daily, and make every effort not to sin at, but you were NEVER able to keep yourself saved by any work of repentance. Ephesians 2:8 & 9

You need to "believe", trust and rely on the death of Christ ALONE, realizing that it is HIM who has fully redeemed you. You cannot keep yourself saved.

16. Charismatic Dogma:
"I don't care what you say. Backsliding can lead to hell."

16. Biblical Truth:
Backsliding can lead to premature, physical death of the body, but it does not lead to hell for a true Christian. Charismatics don't understand the doctrines of chastisement and the sin unto death. I dare say that your church has never taught you about chastisement of the believer and the sin unto death of the believer from which there is no repentance acceptable to God.

Have you ever heard of this? There are two kinds of sin: a sin that leads to (premature) death, and a sin that DOESN'T lead to death. That's found in 1 John 16 & 17. Read it. It is your ignorance of the bible in its totality that is your greatest error.

17. Charismatic Dogma:
"All bad sins in a Christian's life can lead to hell."

17. Biblical Truth:
Really? Give me an example of a "bad" sin. Then give me an example of a "good" sin. Tell me, how many sins can one commit before needing to repent. You know what? You believe in Catholic church doctrine. That is, the idea that a bad sin is a "mortal" sin, and that there are "not so bad" sins, or venial sins.

Tell me, were you once a Catholic? If you were, you simply are now a "Protestant unbeliever" who believes in mortal sin. You are a "Protestant Catholic" and I have reason to doubt your salvation.

18. Charismatic Dogma:
"I know I'm going to heaven."

18. Biblical Truth:
No, you don't because according to the Charismatic way of thinking, that statement of yours would be the sin of presumption, as though you know the end from the beginning. By YOUR way of thinking, you can't know for sure if you are going to heaven because you are not omniscient. You haven't lived out your whole life yet. Since you still believe that you could lose your salvation by sinning, or backsliding, or "falling away", it could happen to you: you COULD lose your salvation.

What if you are unrepentant at some time and suddenly you are killed in a car crash? You're finished if that happens. You can't cover all the bases during your lifetime so you cannot say that "I know I'm going to heaven" for sure.

Only once-saved-always-saved believers can truly say that without committing the sin of presumption. Why don't you become a TRUE believer today and accept the free gift of salvation? Accept Christ's FULL PAYMENT for your sins instead of that cheap half-payment that you've been taught? The one that will never get you to heaven. God loves you and He bought you, but you have only accepted HALF of what He has done for you. Don't delay. Go all the way with Jesus.

19. Charismatic Dogma:
"Christians can 'fall away' from salvation."

19. Biblical truth:
Really? Please tell me, exactly how many sins does it take to "fall away", and at what exact point do you "lose" your salvation? Do you know? Do you realize that if I believed what you believe, I would believe that it would take only ONE sin to backslide or fall away? That's all it took Adam and Eve to mess up the entire human race, just one sin. Yet, you are telling me that "falling away" (which means that many sins must have been committed to arrive at that point of departure from the Christian faith), will cause the loss of one's salvation. How ridiculous! Your own church teaches that you can sin many times before you "fall away". How absurd!

You are believing in false teachings that contradict the bible. Adam and Eve were allowed only one sin to fall; the sin of disobedience, but your church allows many. I urge you to get out of that church, get saved and join a bible-believing church.

Falling away does NOT lose one's salvation. It loses one's physical life. You are mistaken and not understanding the Scriptures or the power of God.

20. Charismatic Dogma:
"Once-saved-always-saved is a lie out of the pit of hell!"

20. Biblical Truth:
If it is, then show me one well-known person by name in the bible, who backslid or fell away and lost his salvation; and then show me the verse that says that well-known person went to hell.

21. Charismatic Dogma:
"God will send us to hell if we fall away."

21. Biblical Truth:
God is incapable of sending His children to hell because He can only do what is good for His children. Going to hell is not good for His saved Christians. Read Hebrews 12:10. It says just that. You still don't understand HOW God disciplines His sinning saints; His children.

God does not hate us. He loves us now just as He loved us before we got saved. Haven't you ever heard of John 3:16 "...God so loved the world..."? Your charismatic idea of God's character is absolutely unbiblical and blasphemous.

22. Charismatic Dogma:
"WE are the true New Testament believers!"

22. Biblical Truth:
You are misled and misunderstanding religionists who offer no hope to the backslidden (fallen away) in your churches because you tell them it is impossible to renew them back to repentance in your false interpretation of Hebrews 6:6. You, therefore, condemn these poor souls to hell. You have a horrible religion of despair, fear and constant worry about being properly repented or going to hell. That, my friend, is not the True New Testament Christianity of hope and assurance. You have never learned that "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1

I urge you for the last time: believe that Jesus Christ has saved us, not on the basis of deeds (such as repentance done again and again) which we may think we have done in righteousness; but we have been saved according to His mercy, something we NEVER had any control over. You are trying to combine faith and works of repentance as your basis of salvation. The Scriptures clearly teach we were cleansed and washed by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, completely and totally, once for all (Romans 6:10; Hebrews 7:27; 1 Peter 3:18) at the moment we believed, and we were given the FREE GIFT of eternal life (Romans 6:23) which is IRREVOCABLE (Romans 11:29 - cannot be lost, taken away, or revoked) and IRREVERSIBLE (Ecclesiastes 3:14; Isaiah 51:6f; Psalm 103:10 & 12; 37:24, 25b, 28a,b & c; Psalm 94:14; Titus 3:5)

Please! Get saved today and BELIEVE that you have been ONCE SAVED AND ALWAYS SAVED.

SUMMARY OF CHARISMATIC ERRORS

Charismatics do not understand:

1....the doctrine of God's discipline and method of chastisement on sinning saints as His method of revealing His love for His children.

2....the doctrine of God's unchangeableness.

3....God's promises or His gifts.

4....the true gospel. They believe in "another gospel" (Galatians 1:6 & 7). Faith + works of repentance = salvation.

5....the doctrine of God's true character and His eternal love for His saints.

6....the doctrine of sin. They believe in a kind of "mortal sin", as Catholics do.

7....the doctrine of true salvation. They believe in "conditional" salvation or Arminianism.

8....the mechanics of backsliding or falling away.

9....the doctrine of progressive sanctification.

10..the doctrine of Christ's present work in heaven of intercession and advocacy for His sinning saints.

11..the doctrine of fellowship with God and the conditions of that fellowship.

12..how repentance works and the mechanics of confession and self judgment.

13..the doctrine of the power of God to keep us saved in spite of our human imperfections.

14..the doctrine of eternity, eternal life, eternal security and assurance.

15..that they have been led astray by false teachers, false prophets and incorrect bible interpretations of unsaved men; 2 Peter 1:20 & 21

16..the purpose of the gift of tongues in the early, transitional church.

17..the mechanics of sin debt payment and the biblical doctrine of redemption.

18..that charismatic beliefs teach the sin of pride (works righteousness) and the sin of presumption.

19..that they are being controlled by delusions that are unscriptural and blasphemous.

20..the doctrine of God's unfailing goodness to His children.

21..that their charismatic beliefs not only lead to hell, but also to a ruined life of despair for charismatics or "backsliders" (who never were saved in the first place and are told they can NEVER be renewed to repentance if they fall away and are damned forever).

22..that their cumulative beliefs as charismatics, if followed, deny the Lord that bought them and lead them to a Christless eternity.
