The
Bible
Teaches
That...
ONCE
SAVED,
ALWAYS SAVED
ONCE SAVED,
ALWAYS SAVED
Once a new Christian has been saved and
realizes for the first time in his life that he is really going to heaven, and
that he is eternally secure in Christ, he can expect Satan to begin his attack
on the new believer by trying to plant seeds of doubt, just as Satan did with
getting Eve to doubt God’s Word in the Garden of Eden
(Genesis
3:1-4).
In
order to prepare you for that attack, it would be wise to memorize as many of
the following verses as you can, marking them in your Bible for future
reference, when you
will be called
upon to PROVE the truth of God’s Word and what you
believe!
The attack of the doctrine of
ETERNAL SECURITY or “ONCE SAVED, ALWAYS SAVED”, can come through
booklets that others give you. T.V. Preachers who deny eternal security (which
reveals to us that they are not truly saved), false teachers
(2
Peter 2:1-3), and so-called
“Christian” religions that teach one can lose their
“eternal” salvation. Some of these false teachers, according to the
Bible, may even call you their “brother” or “sister”,
according to 2 Corinthians
11:26, at the end of the verse (See also
2 Corinthians 11:3 &
4,
13-15).
The
doctrine of teaching of ETERNAL SECURITY, which means that once you are saved,
you are saved ETERNALLY and forever, and can NEVER lose your salvation either in
this lifetime or the next for ANY REASON, is proved by the following verses
accepted literally as God has promised
them:
1.
John 10:28 &
29 - “...and I give ETERNAL LIFE
to them, and they shall NEVER PERISH; and no one shall snatch them out of My
hand, My Father, Who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and NO ONE is
able to snatch them out of the Father’s
hand.”
(This
verse clearly means that NO ONE, not even the believer who may sin after he is
saved, can be separated in any way from his Father’s hand. To do so would
mean that the believer, or sin (which has been TOTALLY paid for by
Christ’s blood) has MORE power than the FATHER, and that simply is NOT
true.)
2.
Romans 8:38 & 39
- “For I am convinced that
neither death nor life...nor any other CREATED THING, shall be able to separate
us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.”
(This means that Paul
was CERTAIN that his eternal security was SURE for believers of their position
of being IN CHRIST JESUS. Since God is love
(1 John
4:8), Paul is saying that NOTHING,
absolutely nothing, can separate us from the love of God, which is GOD IN
CHRIST. Paul also says that NO CREATED THING can separate the believer from
God. Since that is true, then we, ourselves, whether by disbelief, doubt,
worry, fear, sin or backsliding CAN EVER SEPARATE OURSELVES from God. We were
never in charge of salvation in the first place, only God was. We were never
saved by any good deeds that we would ever do, and we can NEVER lose our
salvation by any bad deeds that we would ever do. All that we COULD do was
either BELIEVE in God’s salvation, or reject it. AFTER we believed in it,
and accepted it, and received it as a free gift, God personally sealed us with
His righteousness (Ephesians
1:13), and when that happened, salvation
became IRREVOCABLE (Romans
11:29); that is, it could not be changed.
Even if we begin to doubt or disbelieve after salvation, God will still be
faithful to keep His promise and take us to
heaven.)
3.
John
6:37 - “All that the Father gives
ME shall come to me; and the one who comes to ME I WILL CERTAINLY NOT CAST
OUT.”
(This verse says
clearly and unconditionally, that once you come to Jesus and become a believer,
JESUS HIMSELF will NEVER cast you out. ONCE IN, ALWAYS
IN! If we think
“we” can cast ourselves “out”, we are in a state of
mental delusion, since
we have no
power of ourselves to overrule God. He will still keep us saved for He is
FAITHFUL. Isn’t it wonderful to realize that God is stronger than we are?
God showed
His love for us, in that
while we were still UNSAVED sinners, Christ died for us
(Romans
5:8). Now as believers, if we sin
(1 John
1:9), we still KEEP that salvation BECAUSE
of His love for us, but He wants us to confess our sins to remain in FELLOWSHIP
with Him. How easy He has made it for us to keep His love and friendship for
all eternity!)
4.
1 John 5:13
- “These things I have written to
you who BELIEVE in the name of the Son of God, in order THAT YOU MAY KNOW
THAT YOU HAVE ETERNAL
LIFE.”
(The problem in the
early church was the same as today: Deceivers were infiltrating its ranks, and
denying eternal security. That’s why the Apostle John wrote the above
verses... that “you may KNOW that you have eternal life.” Notice
what John says in the same epistle
in 1 John 2:25 &
26: “And this is the promise that
He Himself made to us: eternal life. These things I have written to you
concerning THOSE WHO ARE TRYING TO DECEIVE YOU.” So be alert!
Deceivers today will also attack the doctrine of once saved, always
saved.)
5.
1 John 5:11 &
12 - “And the witness is this,
that God HAS GIVEN US eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the
Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the
life.”
(This means that God
gives us this life and we have no control over eternal life once we get it. And
since the life is IN the Son, and we have been placed eternally IN Christ Who is
the Son, and have been sealed by the Holy Spirit, even if we sin
after we are saved, we CANNOT lose our eternal life BECAUSE we have no
control over it. If eternal life is ETERNAL at all, then it can NEVER be
“temporary life” that is lost and then regained only to be lost
again, as the DECEIVERS teach! The Apostle John clearly said that we CAN KNOW
that we have eternal life, and never said anything, anywhere about losing
it.)
6.
John
5:24 - “Truly, truly, I say to
you, he who hears MY word, and believes Him who sent Me, HAS ETERNAL LIFE, and
does NOT come into judgement, but HAS PASSED OUT OF DEATH into
life.”
(This verse means
that once saved, the believer will never be judged at the LAST JUDGMENT or be
cast into eternal death of hell. No where does it say that if a believer sins,
he would be “passed back” into death or hell. God imputes a
righteousness into the believer that “sticks”, and cannot be lost
because GOD put it there. The believer is HEAVEN-BOUND without conditions or
exceptions, and there are no ifs, ands or buts about the eternalness of eternal
righteousness.”)
7.
Romans
5:8 - “There is therefore NOW NO
CONDEMNATION for those who are
IN Christ
Jesus.”
(“Only
believers are IN Christ Jesus and were placed there at the moment of salvation.
He is NOW our refuge, our HOLY ARK, and our Redeemer. We CANNOT therefore be
condemned to hell as unbelievers are, for John also says in
John
3:18
that unbelievers are judged for hell
and CONDEMNED ALREADY, because they have NOT believed. Believers were
“born again”. They can’t be “unborn” again! They
are “redeemed”. They cannot be unredeemed. They are saved. They
can’t be UNSAVED. Why? Because all true believers are IN CHRIST
JESUS ETERNALLY and are not condemned, and therefore CAN’T lose their
salvation.)
8.
John 3:18 - “He who believes in
HIM is NOT judged; he who does NOT believe has been JUDGED ALREADY.”
(This means the believer will
NEVER see themselves judged at the LAST JUDGEMENT, the Great White Throne
Judgement. It means the unbeliever has a definite court date with God and that
he, the unbeliever, will be judged and condemned because he has NO eternal life
in him, and has never been in Christ. Sadly, the unbeliever will be sent to the
Lake of Fire for all eternity at that
Judgment.)
9.
John
3:16 - “For God so loved the
world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever BELIEVES in Him should
NOT perish, but HAVE eternal
life.”
(This verse clearly
shows that believers WON’T perish (go to hell). What it
doesn’t say is that...”whoever believes in Him should not
perish, but have eternal life - UNLESS THEY SIN AGAIN, IN WHICH CASE THEY LOSE
THEIR SALVATION AND MUST REPENT TO GET IT BACK”...IT DOES NOT SAY THAT,
DOES IT? John
3:16 is clearly written with no ifs, ands or
buts put into it to snatch one’s salvation away from him. Believing is
the key to salvation, not repenting. Repenting does not cause salvation.
BELIEVING causes salvation once for all time, and for all eternity. If it were
possible for a person to lose their salvation (and they can’t) even by
sinning or back-sliding, it would NEVER be by repenting or confessing
one’s sins that would gain his salvation back; it would be by BELIEVING.
Since a believer who sins after he has been saved STILL BELIEVES ON JESUS CHRIST
and is forever IN Jesus Christ, he CAN’T lose his salvation. A believer
who sins willfully after being saved loses God’s FRIENDSHIP and FELLOWSHIP
until he confesses his sin; but his Father
would never damn him to hell, because that is one act that God is incapable of
doing to a saved believer.)
10.
Romans 6:23;
11:29 - “For the wages of sin is
death, but the FREE GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord...for
the gifts and the calling of God are
IRREVOCABLE.”
(These verses
together clearly show that eternal life is a FREE GIFT of God that places us
INTO Christ’s Own Eternal Life, and being God, it is irrevocable; that is,
IT CANNOT BE REVERSED, changed by anybody or anything, not even repentance.
Once a person BELIEVES the gospel he acquires eternal life which is IRREVOCABLE:
in other words, once saved always
saved.)
11.
Jude
24 - “Now to Him Who is able to
keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory
BLAMELESS with great
joy...”
(This verse means
that a believer cannot “fall out” of salvation or stumble out of it,
but rather that the believer WILL make it through this life and into God’s
presence BLAMELESS, because ALL the believer’s sins were PAID FOR, ONCE
FOR ALL, at Calvary. Since God is in FULL charge of us making it through this
life (even if we sin against Him), we have no power or authority of our own to
get ourselves UNSAVED. Jude says God will “make us stand” in His
presence. God created salvation, God applied salvation and God will carry out
salvation to its end. As believers, there is nothing we can do to affect,
change, or reverse our salvation. NO WHERE does the Bible say that God
“unsaves” saved believers, nor can we believers “unsave”
ourselves. Therefore, we WILL make it to heaven, because it is God’s job
to get us there, NOT ours.)
12.
Hebrews 10:17, 18, 23
- “And their sins and their
lawless deeds I will remember no more. Now where there is FORGIVENESS of these
things, there is no longer any offering for sin. Let us hold fast the
confession of our HOPE without wavering, for He Who PROMISED is
FAITHFUL.”
(God forgets ALL
our sins once we become believers. He does not hold them against us. And once
we have been forgiven by God, it is an ETERNAL FORGIVENESS. If one could lose
his salvation (and of course, he CAN’T), what OFFERING for sin could the
believer give to cover his sin better than what Jesus already paid? God says,
“there is NO LONGER any OFFERING for sin.” So IF a person could
lose his salvation, as some religious groups teach, there would be no offering
that could be made to PAY for the new sins. He would be eternally lost. No
amount of prayer or repentance could ever equal Christ’s one and only
crucifixion payment. But, thank God, we know that if we sin after salvation,
that we won’t lose our salvation. We are not to DOUBT our eternal
security...not because we might lose it...but because we are insulting
God’s truth by doubting His Word. HE HAS promised us eternal life and He
will faithfully deliver it! Doubting is a sin that also gives Satan a chance to
tempt us to worse sin. We are to hold fast to the belief that Once
Saved, Always Saved. That is our hope, a true hope, not a
“hope-so” hope, but a true hope - not in ourselves, nor our
works, but in our God Who will FAITHFULLY deliver us AS PROMISED.)
13.
Hebrews 7:25
- “Hence, also, He is able to
save FOREVER those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to
make INTERCESSION for
them.”
(If the Bible says
God is able to SAVE FOREVER the believer, then I certainly won’t waste my
time listening to people who say that God can’t save people forever.
I’d rather believe what the BIBLE says, than what man says. This verse
means that the salvation process is an ETERNAL process and goes on forever with
Jesus as our INTERCESSOR to protect us - not condemn us if we sin in our
weakness. NOWHERE does it say in the Bible that salvation is an “in
again/out again” experience. Cults believe that; false teachers believe
that; some unsaved people believe that; but we true Christians DON’T
believe that.)
14.
Psalm
37:28 - “For the Lord loves
JUSTICE, and DOES NOT FORSAKE HIS GODLY ONES; they are preserved
FOREVER.”
(In the Old
Testament, the believer also believed in “eternal security” with
such verses as Psalm
37:28. God is just. Christ paid for our
WHOLE sin penalty. Our sins were nailed to the cross
(1 Peter 2:24; Colossians
2:14). Every one of them; and even those
sins we do AFTER we are saved. The cross satisfied God’s justice.
Therefore, NO WAY can we lose our salvation. The verse clearly says God does
NOT FORSAKE His godly ones. They are PRESERVED FOREVER. It was Christ Who was
FORSAKEN in OUR place at the cross when He said: “Why has Thou forsaken
Me?” Our FORSAKENNESS was transferred into Christ’s body at the
cross. We saved Christians CAN’T be forsaken any more because CHRIST
removed and remitted all of our personal FORSAKENNESS from us the moment we
believed! He absorbed it all!!! And He has absorbed ALL OUR FORSAKENNESS from
us who believe. So we are NOT forsaken if we, as believers, sin after we are
saved; Christ took that forsakenness we rightfully deserve when we DO sin, and
He suffered even that “forsakenness for us”! Praise God! What a
Savior, Who thinks of EVERYTHING we could have tried to do to separate ourselves
from Him, and has “covered all the bases” to insure that He will not
lose us at all! That’s what
Psalm
37:28 is saying. What grace! What mercy!
What love! What forgiveness! And all that took place at the moment when we
believed and accepted and received Christ as our own Personal Savior!
Hallelujah!)
15.
Psalm
34:22 -
“The Lord redeems the souls of His servants; and NONE of those that
take refuge in Him WILL BE
CONDEMNED.”
(This means
that once we are redeemed (saved) and have taken “refuge” (eternal
security) in Him (Christ), we will NOT be condemned (sent to hell).
Condemnation, when used in salvation passages, always means hell. God’s
promise to us is that WE WILL NOT BE CONDEMNED! Therefore we can conclude that
“once saved, always
saved”.)
16.
John 6:47
- “Truly, truly I say to you, he
who BELIEVES has ETERNAL
LIFE.”
(This means that
“believing” is the only way to eternal life, NOT repenting, good
works, offerings, sufferings, confession or any such thing. BELIEVING is the
way to receive eternal life. Jesus says twice; “TRULY, TRULY”, we
can have eternal life. BELIEVING is the only thing that conveys eternal life to
us and places us IN CHRIST for all eternity and how do we KNOW that? Because
Jesus said
so!)
17.
Ephesians 2:8 & 9 - “For by
GRACE you have been saved through faith (believing); and that NOT of yourselves,
it is the GIFT of God; not as a result of works, that no one should
boast.”
(If we have been saved
by GRACE, and salvation, was ALL of God’s work, not of ourselves, then we
have no control over the salvation process. All we can do is to exercise
“faith” and believe the “process”. Since the
“process” comes from God, when we “believe” the Gospel,
God automatically registers us saved in the book of “life” in
heaven, and our eternal life is immediately put INTO us while we are still alive
on earth, so that if we die, our eternal life CONTINUES ON after death. Thus,
since God calls us to salvation, and we answer Him by believing in His
salvation, then God imputes us with eternal life instantly! Therefore, since
the actual process of salvation comes from God and He controls it, we
CAN’T lose our salvation. Except for our own “believing” in
the gospel, salvation is ALL of God, and beyond our control, intervention, or
human power to negate God’s power. We choose to BELIEVE to get saved, but
the regeneration, sealing, and preserving process is ALL God’s doing and
NONE of ours. There is no human WORK or act (not even a sinful act or work)
that can lose our salvation for us. Repentance then, CANNOT
“re”-save us, or bring us back to salvation (if we imagine that we
have lost our salvation) because, repentance is a human “act” or
deed, and human deeds can’t “save”. We can only be saved ONCE
according to the Scriptures, and ONCE SAVED, ALWAYS
SAVED.)
18.
Romans 8:19 &
35 - “For whom He foreknew, He
also PRE-DESTINED to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be
the firstborn among many brethren: and whom He PRE-DESTINED, these He also
CALLED; and whom He called, these He also JUSTIFIED: and whom He justified these
He has also GLORIFIED.”
What
then shall we say to these things? IF GOD IS FOR US, WHO CAN BE AGAINST US?
WHO will bring a CHARGE against God’s ELECT? God is the One who
justifies; Jesus Christ...also INTERCEDES for us. “Who shall SEPARATE
us from the love of
Christ?”
(These amazing
verses reveal clearly the security of our salvation. God KNOWS who will be
believers, BEFORE they ever become believers. Then He also has PREDESTINED them
to become conformed to the image of HIS Son. Predestination is the doctrine or
biblical teaching that GUARANTEES all believers that they will get to heaven
unconditionally. Then He also CALLED the believers. Now re-read #10 again in
this booklet.
It says... ”for
the gifts and the calling of God are IRREVOCABLE”, that is: the calling
cannot be reversed, changed, canceled or undone. ONCE CALLED, ALWAYS CALLED is
what Romans
11:29
teaches.)
Getting back to
Romans
8:30, it says, “whom He called,
these He also JUSTIFIED thus we Christians have been irreversibly
JUSTIFIED”...we can’t lose our salvation! If God is FOR us,
NOBODY can be against us. That is, NOBODY can take away our eternal security.
They won’t have the power, and NEITHER do we! WHO will bring a charge
against God’s elect? NO ONE. No one can say to the believer he will lose
his salvation. If someone tries to do that, THEY ARE BRINGING A CHARGE OR
ACCUSATION against God’s elect, and are false teachers. There is simply
no one who can take our salvation away from us. Jesus Christ, Himself,
INTERCEDES for us as our ADVOCATE or attorney if we do sin and so KEEPS us
saved. Paul finally says who shall separate us from the love of Christ? The
answer is NO ONE. And so ONCE SAVED, ALWAYS
SAVED.)
19.
1 John
2:1 - “My little children, I am
writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have
an ADVOCATE (an attorney) with the Father, Jesus Christ the
Righteous.”
(Every believer
knows that he ought NOT to sin. The fact is he does.
(1 John
1:10) The question then arises, IF a
believer sins or backslides, does he lose his salvation? This verse in
1 John
2:1 gives the answer: “If ANYONE
sins, we have an ADVOCATE...”. Someone who will defend us and protect our
righteousness and He only can defend us
to keep us saved. These verses DO NOT
SAY: if anyone sins, we will go to hell. IT DOES NOT SAY THAT! It says IF we
sin someone WILL protect, preserve, intercede and faithfully KEEP our eternal
life intact and continuous.)
20.
Romans 8:14-16 - “For all who are
being led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God. For you HAVE NOT
received a spirit of slavery LEADING TO FEAR AGAIN, but you have received a
spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out “Abba! Father!” The
Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are CHILDREN OF
GOD.”
(When I was born, I
became a son of a human father. NO ONE has ever been able to reverse the fact
that I was the son of that earthly father. Then I became a “son of
God”. These verses say so; and NO ONE, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, not even God,
Himself, can reverse the fact that I have become a son of God. What person can
UN-son me from my heavenly Father? Who is the false teacher who says that God
would DISOWN His OWN adopted children, if they would sin? Where does it say
THAT in the Bible? I don’t mean some fabulous verse that is twisted to
make it seen like that. Where does it ACTUALLY say that God disowns His own
children and takes their eternal life away from them? It DOESN’T SAY THAT
ANYWHERE? The fact is, my Father is an ETERNAL Father, and I have become His
eternal son, and Jesus has become my eternal Brother
(See Romans
8:29). But woe to the person who tries to
tell God how He should raise or handle HIS family. Yet, certain religions
actually do this; they teach that an ALL-loving God deserts His own born again
children if they sin or backslide. Such misinterpretations of God’s
ETERNAL love should be rejected. These verses also say that we are NOT TO FEAR
AGAIN, and that we have the assurance of our salvation also from the witness of
the Holy Spirit Who lives inside of us, Who witnesses to our spirit that we ARE
the children of God. But people who teach that a believer can lose his
salvation live in a constant state of fear, because they don’t know for
sure themselves if they are going to heaven, and what they try to do is to make
you live in fear, along with them. People who live in fear about going to
heaven, according to these verses, are probably not even saved themselves, since
they don’t seem to have the Holy
Spirit WITNESSING to their spirit that they are God’s children,
and that they are truly eternally
secure. You see, FEAR is found in those who do not KNOW eternal
security. But My Holy Spirit witnesses to me that I AM a son of
God, that I AM saved, and that I AM going to heaven
unconditionally. What does YOUR spirit say to
you?)
21.
Isaiah
32:17 - “And the work of
righteousness will be peace, and the service of righteousness, quietness and
CONFIDENCE FOREVER.”
(These
verses from the Old Testament on eternal security and its FRUIT, were used by
the Old Testament saints to prove THEIR once-saved-always-saved position. Once
we become saved, God imputes us with HIS righteousness. Then THAT righteousness
has spin-off effects in our life. If you KNOW for sure you are going to heaven,
three things result: PEACE, QUIETNESS and CONFIDENCE FOREVER! Only a
once-saved, always-saved believer HAS peace, quietness and confidence FOREVER!
Do those who think they can LOSE their salvation ever have “peace”,
“quietness” and “confi- dence” FOREVER? How can they?
They CAN’T! Because they DON’T KNOW FOR SURE for they will never
get to heaven for sure; they do not have “FOREVER” confidence. Only
believers who KNOW that once-saved-always-saved is the true message of the
Scriptures, can they truly have “FOREVER
CONFIDENCE”.
22.
2 Timothy
4:18 - “The Lord WILL DELIVER ME
FROM EVERY EVIL DEED, and will bring me SAFELY to His HEAVENLY
KINGDOM.”
(These words of
St. Paul clearly show that he believed that he trusted in God to get him to
heaven WITHOUT ANY FEAR of losing his salvation. Paul thus settles the question
of eternal security once for all by HIS OWN assertion: “(the Lord) will
bring me SAFELY to His Heavenly Kingdom,” which means that Paul KNEW he
was going to heaven. All true believers in Christ should KNOW and TESTIFY that
they ARE going to heaven, unconditionally, just as Paul, in these words, has
TESTIFIED.)
23.
1 Peter
1:5 - “...(you) who are PROTECTED
by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the
last time.”
(This verse
by Peter (the great denier of the faith) clearly reveals we are PROTECTED in our
salvation by the power of God through faith. Those who claim salvation by
“good works” DO NOT have such protection, and in fact, are on their
way to hell because of their unbelief. Those who claim a person could lose
their salvation and regain it again by “confession”, or repentance,
likewise do NOT HAVE the POWER of God, because they refuse to believe FULLY in
God’s power (2 Peter
2:1). Peter simply says that our
salvation IS PROTECTED by our confession of our own to keep it. We have it, and
it will be revealed to us in the last
time.
24.
Ephesians 4:30; 1:13 &
14 - “and do not grieve the Holy
Spirit of God, by Whom you were SEALED for the day of redemption.”
“In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of
your salvation - having also believed, you were SEALED in Him with the Holy
Spirit of promise, Who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to
the redemption of God’s OWN POSSESSION, to the praise of His
glory.”
(When a believer
becomes a Christian, he is SEALED by the Holy Spirit, Who, according to
2 Corinthians
1:22, is the seal, and God’s pledge
of eternal security. The above verse says NOT to “grieve” the Holy
Spirit, Who INDWELLS all believers. But all believers SIN at some time and
“grieve” the Holy Spirit. Since the Holy Spirit is
“sealed” into us for all ETERNITY, He can’t leave us, even if
we sin. That is why He gets grieved, for since the Holy Spirit is God also, we
have sinned against HIM! A seal in the Scriptures signifies: SECURITY, SAFETY,
OWNERSHIP, AUTHORITY, AND RESPONSIBILITY. Even today, many formal documents
have “seals” on them, particularly
GUARANTEES
can never be destroyed or
withdrawn. It is an everlasting seal. We can never be UN-sealed. These verses
above tell us that we are SEALED for the DAY of REDEMPTION, with the Holy
Spirit, Himself as our PLEDGE, living within us, that God WILL keep His promise.
Thus we discover in these verses that we are God’s OWN POSSESSION,
GUARANTEED by His Own Seal, the Holy Spirit, that we WILL make it to heaven and
be fully redeemed out of this earthly life into God’s heavenly life. Our
eternal security is thus GUARANTEED by the Holy Spirit’s indwelling in
us.)
25.
1 Corinthians
1:8 - “(Jesus Christ) Who shall
also CONFIRM you to THE END, BLAMELESS in the day of our Lord Jesus
Christ.”
(Here Paul
reaffirms the doctrine of eternal security in that Christ will CONFIRM us to the
end of our lives, and we will be blameless on the day of the
resurrection.”
26.
2 Timothy 1:9 & 10 - “(God),
Who has SAVED us, and CALLED us with a holy calling, not according to our works,
but according to His Own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus
FROM ALL ETERNITY, but now has been revealed by the appearing of our Savior
Christ Jesus, Who ABOLISHED DEATH, and brought LIFE and IMMORTALITY to light
THROUGH THE GOSPEL.”
(Notice it says we ARE SAVED -
past tense - and CALLED (re-read section #10), and we know that God’s
calling is irrevocable; and notice in the verses it says BOTH our salvation and
calling were NOT according to our works, but was decided BEFORE WE WERE EVER
CREATED...from ALL ETERNITY. Thus, if we could lose our salvation (and we
can’t), we would have to DO SOME KIND OF WORK: confess, pray, offerings,
repent, fasting, etc...and NONE of those things could ever get back our
salvation, because they are HUMAN WORKS! The verses also reveal CHRIST
abolished death, eternal death, in other words, for believers. Believers cannot
go to hell! It has been abolished that possibility for them. Now we know He
did not abolish earthly death since Christians still die! So it must mean He
abolished ETERNAL death for believers, since UN-believers WILL DIE the eternal
death. But now even more astounding in verse 10, is the biblical fact that the
GOSPEL brings LIFE (eternal life) and IMMORTALITY to those that believe it.
Think of that: IMMORTALITY!! And so ALL believers are guaranteed IMMORTALITY
after they believe the immortal gospel. And that’s why believers will
NEVER, NEVER lose their salvation; because they are NOW, in this life IMMORTAL
beings in their souls and spirits, waiting for the revelation of that
immortality at the rapture of the church when they finally receive their
IMMORTAL bodies to replace their present mortal ones. God was so eager to see
all men saved that He immediately provides immortal life to the believers’
souls and spirits, thus guaranteeing our eternal life. But He will not do the
same to our present earthly bodies because of the
Genesis 3:19
curse of death that our present bodies
must go through (unless raptured). Yes, believers can die the PHYSICAL death of
the earthly body. But without a body until the day of the resurrection, when
God is able to complete the glorification process by providing the believer with
an IMMORTAL BODY, made to last all
eternity.)
27.
2 Corinthians 1:10
- “(God) Who delivered us from so
great a peril of death, and will deliver us, He on Whom we have set our hope.
And, HE WILL YET DELIVER
US.”
(Here Paul uses an
interesting play on words. First, he says that believers were delivered from a
peril of death, and says God WILL deliver us. Finally, he repeats the idea
again that we will YET be delivered. The play on words is that he shifts from
an earthly happening, to one YET FUTURE...our deliverance at our redemption.
Every statement is CONFIDENT in that verse, and no where does he add
“conditions” of delivery, or any ifs, ands, or buts. Our
DELIVERANCE is CERTAIN.)

Jude 1
- “Jude, a bond-servant of Jesus
Christ, and brother of James, to those who are the CALLED, BELOVED in God the
Father and KEPT for Jesus
Christ.”
(In this short verse,
notice Jude refers to THREE aspects of eternal security. First, that believers
are CALLED. Second that believers are BELOVED by the Father, and third,
believers are KEPT (Greek word: tereo). To be kept or
“preserved” in the Greek language means to be “guarded from
LOSS or INJURY”. Thus, what Jude is saying here is that all believers are
CALLED, which is an IRREVOCABLE quality, BELOVED in the Father’s hand (see
section #1) from which NO ONE escapes or can snatch the BELOVED away from God.
Finally, they are KEPT from LOSS of their
salvation.)
29.
Psalm 94:14 - “For the Lord will
NOT ABANDON His people, nor will He FORSAKE His
inheritance.”
30.
Psalm 119:141 & 142
- “I am small and despised, yet I
do not forget Thy precepts. THY RIGHTEOUSNESS IS AN EVERLASTING RIGHTEOUSNESS,
and Thy Law is
truth.”
31.
Isaiah 51:6 - “...But MY
SALVATION SHALL BE FOREVER, AND MY RIGHTEOUSNESS SHALL NOT
WANE.”
Isaiah 51:7 - “...But MY
RIGHTEOUSNESS SHALL BE FOREVER, and My salvation to all
generations.”
32.
Isaiah 38:17b & c;
20a - “It is THOU Who has KEPT my
soul from the PIT OF NOTHINGNESS (hell), for THOU hast cast ALL MY SINS behind
Thy back... The Lord WILL SURELY SAVE
me.”
33.
Psalm 103:10 &
12 - “He has not dealt with us
ACCORDING TO OUR SINS, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities - As far as
the east is from the west, SO FAR has HE REMOVED our TRANSGRESSIONS from
us.”
(Notice that God,
with believers, DOES NOT give us what we deserve because of our sins. This is
another reason why believers, who sin after being saved, DON’T LOSE their
salvation: because of God’s mercy and lovingkindness IN SPITE of our
sins.)
34.
Psalm 37:17b &
18 - “But the Lord sustains the
righteous. The Lord knows the days of the blameless; and THEIR INHERITANCE will
be FOREVER.”
Psalm 37: 24, 25b, 28a, b, c -
“The steps of a man are ESTABLISHED by the Lord... When he FALLS, he
shall NOT be hurled headlong; because the Lord is the One WHO HOLDS HIS HAND...I
have NEVER seen the righteous FORSAKEN...for the Lord loves justice and does NOT
FORSAKE His godly ones, they are PRESERVED FOREVER.”
35.
Psalm 21:4 &
6 - “He (the King) asked life of
Thee, Thou didst give it to him...length of days FOREVER AND EVER. For Thou
dost make him most blessed FOREVER.”
SIX CAUSES FOR
DOUBTING ETERNAL SECURITY
1. Doubt of confidence in Christ’s
FINISHED WORK.
2. Doubt of
God’s ability and power to KEEP us saved.
3. Ignorance of the many Scriptural
promises of
everlasting
life.
4. Active SIN in a
person’s life.
5.
Double-mindedness, instability.
(James
1:6-8)
6.
NOT REALLY SAVED IN THE FIRST
PLACE.
All we can
say to people who doubt their eternal security is to read Jesus’ Own words
and BELIEVE them:
“I AM
THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE: HE WHO BELIEVES IN ME SHALL LIVE FOREVER, EVEN IF
HE DIES, AND EVERYONE WHO LIVES AND BELIEVES IN ME SHALL NEVER DIE. DO YOU
BELIEVE THIS? (John 11:25
& 26)

remaining space to write more eternal security
verses.
2 Samuel
23:5 - “For He (God) has made an
everlasting covenant with me. Ordered in
all things, and second, for all my
salvation and all my desire.”
