it seems that there are so many more car accidents lately. there probably aren't any more car accidents, actually. it's probably just that the poeple getting into car accidents lately are people i know. and it seems that each car accident is a bit more severe...this is what scares me.

of course i'm sure everyone has heard of lisa "left eye" lopez' accident. unfortunately, the accident was so severe that it took her life. i was devastated to hear of this incident. and i pray that her family is coping well...

in early april, my lil bro and i got into a not-so-minor car accident. i didn't exactly get so badly injured that i felt i had to go to the hospital, however, i was badly bruised & swollen and bit my tongue pretty badly. he was arrite. he was a bit sore...and bruised his knee or something.

only a couple weeks later, stevie got into a worse accident. some old grampa was exiting the freeway at about 70 mph and hit stevie's car on the driver's side. not nice. the firemen had to cut the car open to get stevie out. i dunno if he still is, but he was wearing a back brace..and at first was having trouble walking. he's doing a lot better now, but i was really scared when i heard about it.

then, just this past weekend, an even worse accident~ daniel kim, someone i view as a dongseng, got into a MAJOR accident. his friend was driving, and i think there was one other person, besides the driver and daniel, in the car. i'm not completely sure about all the details, but i guess they ran into a pole cuz the pole landed on daniel. people thought they were dead, but--THANK GOD--they were still alive. the car was cut open to get them out.

daniel's friends were in the hospital for one or two days...they've already gone home. but daniel...he got the worst end of the whole ordeal. he got some teeth chipped. a lot of internal bleeding. pelvic bone broken in 2 (or 3?) places. ripped liver. 1 broken ankle. 1 sprained ankle. sprained (or broken) wrists/arms. i didn't want to ask of the entire details. but...i could just see all the places he was hurt.

i visited him yesterday, may 7. the crash was on the 3rd. he had slept through the first two days or so..and didn't realize it was already the 7th. he didn't remember the crash at all. all he remembered was that, when he woke up, he was in the hospital. the way he was. it was painful yet empowering to hear him talk about. painful cuz i knew he was in so much pain...and i wanted to take it away for him. empowering cuz i could see how strong he is...and how much he's grown since i first met him 6 or 7 years ago.

a lot of the unioners had visited him on sunday. at that point, i don't think he was able to talk. i heard that he would squeeze his hands to respond. by the time i went to visit, he had already recovered so much. his voice was a little husky...and i could tell he was struggling to talk, but he was cracking a few jokes. what a qt.

he said that his dad gave him a strong liver. he said that no one thought he was going to make it thru the whole ordeal, but he showed signs of such quick recovery~ and i'm so thankful. he has so many people praying for him and his family. i'm thankful that he is alive. and that God has healed him so much already. and that God has blessed him with so many loving people...

i just hope that we all can be more cautious drivers. and watch out for bad drivers. like it's been said...car accidents aren't always our fault. sometimes someone else will bump into us. and sometimes we'll be passengers in someone else's car...juss...be careful out there~ i have no real words of wisdom~ juss...be careful.
