So you wanna spike up you hair eh? Well here are some good ways to go without having to go through some messy experimentation. 1.If a product has a picture of a woman with a large afro on the top of the can, don't put it in your hair....It won't come out for about 4 days. 2.If you want the back of your head to come out super rad then have a friend help, but it's not absolutly necessary. 3.Put on a good record. I won't tell you it has to be punk, but I'll recommend it. 4.If your hair is not THAT long and you wanna go for a porcypine look just get the most powerful aquanet (it works they best). I think level 5 is the highest but its hard to find- I have level 4. Do each section of your head seperately, the 2 sides, top and back. Give the appropriate section a good dose of hair spray then push it against the grain with your hand then blow dry it right away against the grain so stays spiked up. 5. If you wanna put up individual spikes as in a liberty spike mohawk or just all over your head- this is the way to go about it. The 2 products that I find work the best are a mixture of hair spray and elmers glue, or knox gelatin. To use the former, grab a small chunk of hair that looks like a good spike to you. Then hold it up and soak it with hair spray making sure you get the whole spike root to tip. Then blast it with the hair dryer for a good 10-14 seconds until it stands up on its own. Next, for a rock hard stab ya in the foot finish put a little elmers washable glue (the regular schoolboy kind) and light coat the spike. Dont use too much then hit it with the hair dryer again. This will give you a spike that you can't knock down unless you shampooo repeatedly. And don't worry with 2 shampoos it should all come out. If you did something wrong like using super glue then hahah some folks are lucky and some ain't but HAVE FUN. |
"You ever seen a mohawk being put up before?' Armstrong asks. "First you gotta put on a punk rock record." "It could be a G.B.H record, or it could be The Sex Pistols," chimes in Frederiksen. "Tonight its Green Day, because they are our friends and we love them."- Tim Armstrong and Lars Frederiksen of RANCID |
