Jacob sheep, one of the oldest of domesticated sheep breeds,originated in
what is now known as Syria some three thousand years ago.Jacob sheep take their
name from Jacob( father of the twelve Hebrew patriarchs), who, as an old man, returned
to Egypt to be near his son. Jacob sheep are rather small in size and carry the polycerate gene allowing the animal to produce as many as six horns. This unusual trait, coupled with
the breeds distinctive random spotting, rare livestock status, and
intelligence not found in any other commercial breed
