News and my Mind

Thoughts and Such

Look, updating again, and for once it's not song lyrics *triumphant cheer*

Okay, so I'm sitting here in front of the computer looking at news.bbc.co.uk, and I come across this headline "Spain to block Basque plan". The Basque region and people are language (and flag too) interest me quite a bit for no apparent reason (maybe I should find out more about the whole situation there) so I read the article. After reading it my very first thought is "What's Spain's problem with violating the constitution if Basque is just going to separate anyway, what's their problem with Basque separating?" And the moment I thought that a connection was made *pang (ouch)*.

Quite naturally that connection was to my own life and country, namely the Québec (say it with me now, keh-beck not kwe-beck, sheesh) Separation issue. Why is it that I see no problem with Basque separating from Spain when I, as a Canadian, don't like the idea of Québec separating (despite what I may say sometimes)? It just goes to show how differently you look at a situation if it has the potential to actually affect you (I mean a largish potential). Weird huh, "Sure loosing Québec would weaken Canada as a whole, but Spain losing Basque would just mean they'd have to deal with fewer terrorists" "shut up" "fine"

Something else I found on bbc news was this article "Judge suspends crucifix verdict" (if its about religion I'm there and ready to ignore all your arguments and just state my own biased and uneducated opinion) And I really don't like this particular one either. Either they should remove the crucifix from the wall or they should hang a symbol of Islam there as well.

What is this quote "in the name of an incorrect interpretation of the principle of equality"? Doesn't equality mean that everybody has the same rights? Therefore at the very least a symbol of Islam should be on the wall (as well as any other religion that wants to be represented) as a display of the equality that people have in freedom of religion. Also, what right does the pope have to just come in and tell people things, I think he should just bloody well die and no new pope should be elected, then we'd be free of their stupidity.

I should shut up now seeing as I'm just rambling on in an (as stated before) biased and uneducated manner. I will. Right. Left. Magenta Tuna fish (I've been told that "tuna fish" is redundant, after all we don't say "tiger mammal" or "sparrow bird"). Night all.
