Odd
Questions

So
I was talking to my friends this morning, and I look around
at all of them. I suddenly realize something, every single
one of them is wearing a necklace, and so am I. And then I
realize something else, nearly everyone I know owns a
necklace of some sort that they wear on a regular basis, if
not always.
Why
does everybody have a necklace? It doesn’t make sense to
me. I realize I wear one as well, but I still don’t
understand why. What is the allure of hanging a piece of
metal, or wood, or crystal, or any other material around
your neck? Does it make us feel protected? Like a sort of
security blanket? I am still not sure.
I
myself don’t like taking my necklace off. I wear it night
and day, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I’ve become so
used to it that I feel naked when it’s not around my neck.
I almost lost it during the summer, and I went into a panic
trying to find it again. Why do we become so attached to
these objects we suspend around our necks? Perhaps they
serve as replacements for the teddy bears and stuffed
animals that we love so much as children.
I’ve
asked a lot of questions so far today and I haven’t
offered many answers, and I doubt I will. If I ever find
answers to these questions, I’ll be sure to post them
here. So, until next week. Enjoy life, and feel the 42.
