Britney Spears' budding fans pack Rose Garden

PORTLAND - She was once the baby-doll of pop music, but no more. Britney Spears is all grown up, and dealing with some very grown-up subjects, on and off the stage.

The pop singer performed at the Rose Garden Thursday night to thousands of fans eager hear their idol sing. Many of those fans were well under the "PG-13" age.

Recently, Spears' music, performances and public persona have been tending more toward an "R" rating lately. For example, her latest sultry album includes a song about masturbation.

KATU wondered if parents are worried about Britney as a role model.

"She just takes all her clothes off, I don't think she should do that," said Stefan Bentea who is the father of 11-year-old Emily. Both were in attendance Thursday night. "(She should) just put on the show and keep some clothes on, that would be good."

After KATU tells another father about Britney's song content, he is a little surprised by the grown-up subjects his 6-year-old will be exposed to.

"A little bit, but you know, kids are growing up a lot faster than when I was growing up," said Andrew Kirkwood.

Some of the parents that KATU spoke with acknowledged Britney's new sex appeal may not suit their children, and said the concert could be used as a learning tool.
