More Sharpe

By Gary Lyon

Having just read Sharpe's Enemy (Sharpe meets Napoleon & conquers Chile) in which Sharpe's age is given I calculate that Sharpe was born in 1777. This means that he could participate in the American war of Revolution aged 4 at Yorktown. However he would not be able to take part in the battle of Bunker Hill. Unless, of course, the new book would be:

Sharpe' s Embyro

In which Richard Sharpe is carried, in a test tube, by Harper's father across the battlefield in search of a womb.....

Ed note: Bernard Cornwall has written an AWI novel called Redcoats, which is very pro American, but missed the opportunity to have Sharpe make an appearance. Also if Gary was to read the Starbuck (ACW) series, Sharpe's son makes an appearance as a French observer
