Warhammer Day - The ResultsWell it's all over now (until next time). So here are the results as collated by Mr Guinness himself. As a club we did better on the playing side than the painting and based on the generalship scores we took 4 of the top 5 places in the Fantasy games. Rug almost threw the whole adjudication into question by using his nom de guerre 'Leon Kemp' on the aftermath card, in one stroke confusing the judges and making it seem as if there was more vote rigging than you might expect at a union election. Just to prove that 'nice guys' don't always finish last he also climbed out of the lower places by getting over a quarter of his points due to sportsmanship (making him the most likeable person there), which just placed him in the top half of the table. It seems the rest of us can learn a lesson from Rug (and Mike who got 10 points as well) in the gentle art of wargaming. So next time I'm going to bring a big bag of pick'n'mix sweets and a nice fluffy cushion for the opposition, wear my 'I luv Kittens' woolly jumper and those lessons on smiling and pleasant chit chat had better pay off or there will be hell to pay. Warhammer Day - EditorialBy MikeWell, I can remove the bike clips now. What a great day that was, yes
I'm biased but its better than apologizing for it being c**p. I may have
basked in the glory etc, but I couldn't have done it without the support
I had, (jockstrap not included).!! In no particular order, Gareth; for
helping with the 40K rule bits, Andy; for collating all the 40K entries
and for putting up with several rule questions he couldn't answer, from
frenzied space marine players etc, and for helping on the day. Gary; for
admin stuff, Henry; for helping out on the day. When will you get painting
those skelies.??? Paul Mileham; (who only came up for an hour, and stayed
all day).!!! A really big thanks to Paul Hooper, who although he hates
w........ (insert your chosen name), came along and provided valuable
IT support as well as propping up the bar. Don't worry Paul, I'm pretending
to collect Bretonnians, I'll pass them on to you later.!!!! If you missed it, come along next year. We have a cunning plan for 2003, all will be revealed later. Its the best £7 you'll invest.!!! Especially as there were around £130 worth of prizes this year, and for 40 players that's well worth the effort.!!! THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR SUPPORT Mike Fantasy Battle
