Way of the Dragon

A new army list for Warhammer.

Description

Dragons have issued forth from legend bent on world domination. To aid them in this the greatest of the dragons have awaked from their centuries old slumber beneath the mountains and created a new race of servants known as Draconians. These scaly creatures are fierce fighters with tough skins and small stubby wings. Hobgoblins and men have been pressed into service to increase the forces available.

Special Rules

  • Draconian mages may use the lores of death and heavens, spellcasting great Dragons may use any lore.
  • Spellcasting great Dragons cannot misscast a spell and any such throw is treated merely as a failure to cast.
  • Draconians have a 6+ armour save from their scaly skin. This may be combined with armour and shields as per normal.
  • Draconians spontaneously combust once killed. This means that they cannot be raised after death. In the case of more advanced , and therefore complicated, draconians, this combustion takes the form of a violent explosion which may effect close combat opponents.
  • Due to the great fear that Hobgoblins and men have for Draconians and Dragons, whilst at least one unit of Draconians or a Dragon still exists in the army (and is not fleeing), Hobgoblin and Bountymen units count as stubborn. Also because of this Draconian power Hobgoblins will not suffer from animosity.
  • Once a unit of Hobgoblins or Bountymen flees it can only be rallied if a Draconian character is with the unit.
  • All units ignore panic tests for breaking or fleeing Hobgoblins and Bountymen except other Hobgoblins and Bountymen.
  • For each unit of Draconians taken a Hobgoblin or Bountymen unit must be chosen, these units do not count towards compulsory core choices.

A great dragon, if taken, must be the army general. It also uses up a rare choice and two Hero choices.

A Draconian mage is a level 1 wizard. This may be increased to level 2 at a cost of +35 points.

MAGIC ITEMS

Fists of the Dragon : Set of two studded gauntlets. +1A, +1S. may reroll missed attacks. 80 points

Flail of Dragon fire : Each unsaved wound becomes two wounds 40 points

Dragon’s teeth sword: Each successful hit inflicts an additional S2 attack with no armour save 50 points

Armour

Dragon scale Armour: Counts as wearing armour (5+ armour save). Also gives wearer 6+ ward save and magic resistance 1 45 points

Enchanted Items

Whip of Control: Increases command radius for Hobgoblins & Bountymen to 18" 30 points

Talismans

Ring of Fire Protection: 4+ ward save against all fire based attacks 10 points

Banners

Banner of the Winds: Any scatter weapons targeted at the unit with this banner must reroll any direct hits 35 points
