Five Movie Weapons I'd like Game Stats For...

By Quartermaster Pete

Fed up with blasters and Bolt Pistols(tm) in your sci-fi games? How about sneaking one of these cool toys into your next game? Be aware though, that I take no responsibility for insanity or fisticuffs caused.

Rocket Pistol - Runaway (USA 1984)
Used by the villain of the piece, this bulky pistol fires a small homing missile that locks onto a person's heat signature. Able to turn corners but not to kill Tom Selleck.

Alien Machine Pistol - Dark Angel (USA 1993)
Any self respecting gun-bunny will recognise the design of the Calico M950 (Semi-auto pistol with a 100 round drum magazine!) But in this movie it's a full-auto machine pistol dishing out four different settings of explosive incendiaries!

Lance of Longinous - Neon Genesis Evangelion (Japan 1996)
So big it required an aircraft carrier to transport. This mystical spear, only usable by giant robots, is capable of surface to orbit interceptions. Unfortunately it reached escape velocity and was last seen orbiting the moon!

(Commander Note - Longinous was the Roman soldier who poked Jesus with his spear on the cross. Some claim the 'real' spear of Longinous is in the Vatican vaults)

Wierding Module - Dune (USA 1984)
Able to shatter stone, set things ablaze, and a dozen and one other uses, all by amplifying sound. Cool!

Medusa Ray - The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Britain 1975)
With just the flick of a switch you can turn your enemies into classic style Greek statues. Great for converting door-to-door salesmen into attractive lawn ornaments. To reverse the process simply use the Anti-Medusa Ray!

For more unusual weaponry why not try watching cheesy 50's films, or recent sci-fi parodies like Red Dwarf and The Strangerers. Don't be fooled though, many recent films have tried to pass off SA80s, Steyr Augs and even HK CAWS as laser rifles and plasma guns. Like no one would notice...
