'Though it's no incitement to cinema-going,the film has collected a fearful
dread from the way the world has gone since 9/11.Peter Jackson's film,
unplanned though it was, now looks like a prophetic allegory for Osama
Bin Laden's messianic threats to the world order as well as the besieged
resistance of the great and the small. Even the subtitle The Two Towers
involuntarily recalls the Twin Towers. Lines like 'A new power is coming,
its victory is at hand' or 'There will be no dawn for men' or 'War is
upon us' have gained resonance of the fundamentalism that overlays cinematic
fantasy......The oak trees are so rooted in protocol that they're almost
potbound-the comparison to the United Nations doesn't pass unoticed-but
they rally round the forces of Good in the nick of time'
Alexander Walker reviews the film by Peter Jackson the Two Towers in
the Evening Standard. Personally I preferred Richard, (from Richard and
Judy), who said that Galadriel was a forerunner of Margaret Thatcher,
in the Fellowship of the Ring.!!!!! Next week was grandad in Only Fools
and Horses an Inspiration for Osama Bin Laden, and did tobacco companys
sponsor pipeweed in the films.!!!!!
