Phototographer unknown. | There's a huge difference between loving a horse you know personally and one you've only seen. There's an even bigger difference between those and loving one you've only seen in print. During 2000, a European superstar kept appearing in the BloodHorse. He won five straight G1 races, and each time I'd see his picture, I'd love him more and more. Then, in the fall of that year, it was announced he'd be coming stateside for the Breeders' Cup Classic. It was that week I first saw him in action. On TVG's The Works, they showed him stretching his legs over the dirt track at Churchill Downs. He was more adorable than a photograph could ever portray. His unique blaze helped to give him a captivating playful expression. His performance in the Breeders' Cup Classic a few days later was remarkable. His will to win is incredible. He truly showed why he is, and always will be, the Iron Horse. | |||||||||||||||
