Dann Danley Grabs in 3rd Place at New Hampshire!

Nice Job Dann finishing 3rd today, and putting your #109 Chevy in another top 5 finish!

You have to be pleased with your performance today

Did you think you had a car capable of running in the lead pack prior to the race?

Yes!  I was confident that the setup we had would be a string contender for the win.

Did you sustain any damage early on in the race when the #20 brought out the caution getting loose and spinning  in front of you?   What went through your mind coming around the corner and seeing him basically “parked sideways” right in front of you?

I really expected the 20 car to continue his spin leaving me a clear path, but that was simply not the case.  My heart sank when the he stopped center track and I had nowhere to go.   My whole front end of the car came off the ground and I thought for sure my car would be hurt worse than it was.

When driving a track like Loudon having hardly any banking and big turns. What would you say was the key to preparing for a track such as this?

Getting your car to handle good in the turns is key here.  If you are fast (and stable) in the turns here then you have a good chance of finishing well.

With having 12 cautions, did it help you?  Or were you looking for long green runs to dail your car in?

As with most tracks, I like to see long green runs.  This held true for this track as well.

You had a great battle going on with Al Rosemeyer in the #42 toward the end, and He was knocking on your rear bumper!  Did you think you had enough tire left to hold him off?

Al “Sleeper” Rosenmeyer was knockin pretty hard with 5 to go.  Actually I think he was a little faster than me at that point, but with 5 to go I didn’t want to move over.  I concentrated on my line hoping to not make a mistake and lose the position.

You were able to turn things around after having a couple of disappointing finishes in the past couple of weeks at Chicagoland, and Daytona. What does Dann Danley, as a driver have to do, for the remainder of the season to contend for the Championship?

Bottom line is stay out of trouble.  The last couple of races I have been at the wrong place at the wrong time.  Don Young seems to have a psychic sense about these things and always avoids them.  I have not yet learned how he accomplishes this, but I am doing my best to figure it out.

We’re at the ½ way point of the Season, you’re second in the Season points race. Are the tracks on schedule for the last half of the season strong, weak, or no idea for yourself?

There may be a couple we struggle at, but we try to improve our chances with each subsequent visit to the track.   As far as being second in the points, We will need to step it up a bit to stay there.  Mr “Step it up” Hayes is coming on strong with 4 wins.  Our team has yet to accomplish a victory this season.

Next week SORS East heads to a tricky Pocono Track with long straightaways and 3 entirely different corners? Your thoughts on what a driver has to do to have a good finish there?

We have been asking that same question for Pocono.  I love the track and every time I think we have a good car, it seems that everyone else has a GREAT car.  Getting your car to corner well in turn 3 for that long straight will sure help.

Great job today Dann demonstrating patience for a 3rd place Thanks for taking time out to share your thoughts, and I wish you the best of luck for the rest of the Season in the points race!  Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any comments, or anything you’d like to add?
