Dann Danley gets another top 3 finish in a row at Pocono!

Congratulations Dann on your 2nd straight  week placing 3rd with your #109 LaMotte Technologies Inc Chevy Monte Carlo!! You have to be pleased with rebounding back after a couple of disappointing finishes in a row??

Absolutely!   This puts us more on track of where we wanted to be.

Did you have any idea or gut feeling you had a car strong enough to contend for the win prior to the race?

I thought I did, but at Pocono it is sometimes hard to tell.

100 lap race, 2 cautions!!  Is that what you wanted to see happen setting up your car during practice all week??     Where would you grade this race compared to previous SORS East races?

That is what I would like to see every week.  I thought I would be doomed after staying out to lead a lap and getting off sequence on pit strategy but this was not the case.  As far as a grading for this race?  That would have to be an A+ with a 10 point bonus!

Did you have to make any major adjustments to your car as the race progressed during the green flag pit stops???

My car was handling well from the drop of the green flag to the checkered.  No changes were necessary.  I could have thrown on a little more tape, but we were so spread out at that point that I didn’t think putting the extra strain on the engine would be worth it.

When the pit stops started taking place, did you and your crew chief already have a pit strategy in place, or did the plan develop as the race went on??

Our pit strategy changed when I stayed out and lead a lap about lap 10 or so.  From there on out, our pit strategy was dictated by the long green flag runs.

The last 3 out of 5 races now, you’ve been able to put your #109 LaMotta Technologies Inc Chevy in the top 3! But in those other 2 races you finished outside the top 10. How frustrating was it knowing you had a challenge ahead of you to change things around?

I wouldn’t call it frustrating.   I just needed to stay out of trouble and be there at the end.  When your car gets tweaked by an early incident, then the fun factor is quickly thrown out the window.

Next  week SORS East fires up the car haulers and heads to Indianapolis Speedway. Long straightaways and 4 tough similar turns !  Any inside tip on which car and setup you’ll be taking there??

I’ll get back to you on this one.

Ok, I’m going to put you on the spot now Dann!  LOL  Who is the one or two drivers you are watching closely, or keeping a eye on in the Weekly point standings???

Don Young.            Avoids all incidents and finishes strong often.

John Hayes.           10 poles / 4 wins.  Say no more.

Al Rosenmeyer.       Gotta watch him.  He’ll sneak up on ya.

You’re 2nd in Season point standings now, but after 20 Races, nothing in the win column. Tell us your thoughts about not having that 1st win of the season yet, but you’re still very much in contention for the championship?

Well, I sure would be nice to get a win for our team, but running second in the points kind of makes up for it.

Again Dann, Well done on your 3rd place for the 2nd week in a row here at Pocono!. Thank you for taking the time to speak with us, and a good luck in your run for the SORS East Championship!  Any last comments, or thoughts you’d like to ass before we conclude?
