Bob Dionne
sneaks in for 3rd Place at Indy!
Nice
job today Bob finishing 3rd today here at Indy and putting your #33 Chevy in
the Top 3! How’s it feel to get your 3rd top 5 finish in the your last 4 races?
It feels great to be able to finish up
front with the caliber of drivers we have here.
Did
you have a gut feeling you had a strong car prior to the drop of the green?
My car was good all week in practice ,
but wasn't sure how it would fair in the race.
You
qualified 4th and were up front all race. Did you think you had a chance to
pull off a win as the race progressed?
My car ran well, but don't think I had much
for the leaders, at the end I was pushing it for it was worth and couldn't
catch the leaders.
When
it came time to take fuel and tires, did you have to make adjustments to your
car for tight or loose conditions?
I didn't make any ajustments I was
pretty happy the way the car was running.
At
1 point during the race during a restart, you got loose, and got into the wall.
What were you thinking at that point?
I was think Oh
man here we go again, but I was lucky enough not to get much damage from it.
You
had a great battle going on with Al Rosemeyer, and Mike Steger going on all
race. Did you think you had enough tire
left at the end to catch him either one of them
No I didn't have anything for them, I
pretty much used up my tires.
In
your 5 last races you’ve ran now Bob, you had 5 top 10 finishes, and 3 of those
in the top 5. Have you changed or done anything differently since the beginning
of the season?
No I haven't changed much just been
getting more comfortable with the guys we race with and it makes it alot easier
to concentrate on my driving.
For
next weeks race, SORS East heads to Watkins Glen, a road course. What the first thing you think hearing “Watkins
Glen”?
It's going to be a challenging race for
me.
Does
Bob Dionne consider himself at Road courses as strong, so-so, or “going to find
out!”? lol
I don't usually do real well at the road
courses, but i guess time will tell.
Great
job today demonstrating patience and consistency on your 3rd place driving
performance Bob here at Indy! Thank you
for taking time out to speak to us, and wish you the best of luck for the rest
of the Season! Is there anyone you’d
like to thank, any comments, or anything you’d like to add?\
Thanks Mike it was a fun race. I
would like to thank Billy for putting together a bunch of great drivers to race
with every week, also thanks to Bob Wigent and John Hayes for teaming up with
me and helping on putting some great setups together.
