Steven
Flinn Comes Back to Win one at Pocono!!
A Big
Congratulations Steve!! You have to be pleased coming right back a week later
and winning here. Tell us how’s it feel
to come back and win after last weeks late race incident??
The Texas Networking
Solutions Chevy ran great. I am very
very happy to have won. I was starting
to wonder if I would ever win again. My
last victory at Richmond seems like it happened 5 years ago.
You started on
the outside pole, took the lead, and led 81 laps out of the 100 laps. Did you think you would dominate with ease?
I figured that I would be
tough to beat but I also knew that someone would step up and give me a good
challenge in the race.
What were you
thinking with John Hayes closing the gap with 5 to go?
I knew he was coming but I
felt that the gap was big enough that without an incident he would have a hard
time catching me.
What one word
comes to mind when you crossed the finish line taking the checkered?
Actually four words : It's
about damn time.
Having only 2
cautions the entire race. Was that what you were hoping for?
The long green runs were
exactly what I wanted to see. My setup
was awesome on older tires.
Did you think
you had enough tire left to hold off the #87, and how’d you keep your
composure?
John Hayes could have caught
me but he would have had a very tough time getting past me. I planned on making my car very wide if I
needed to protect the lead at the end.
Last 2 races
now Steve, you’ve had 2 top 5 finishes. can you keep it going for the remainder
of the season?
My car has been pretty fast
all year just bad strategy and bad luck have kept me from finishing up
front. There are some tracks coming up
that I run really well at. I just need
everything to fall in place for me like it did tonight and I will get some good
finishes.
Would you
officially say “that monkey” is off your back now? LOL
Yes, after a tough battle
King Kong is off my back. It's somebody
elses turn to fight him.
Next week,
SORS east heads to Indy! Your feelings
on how to approach that track?
In brief testing I have
found that my Pocono setup works pretty well there with a few minor
adjustments. I hope everyone has a
tight setup for Indy because it seems everyone's cars get super loose there in
traffic.
Steve,
Congratulations again on a very dominating performance today here at Pocono!
Thank you for
taking the time to speak with us
today. Good luck for the remainder of
the season! anything you’d like to add or comment on?
I'd like to thank my
sponsor, Texas Networkings Solutions, and I'd like to thank Billy Stratton and
the SORS East members for making this a fun league to race in.
