NASCAR History The Encyclopedia for NASCAR

NASCAR has risen to one of the most popular sports in America nowadays. It has gone from a largely southern based sport to having a fanbase spread across the states. But it didn't start out that way. Before NASCAR began there would be races held in the Southern States, mainly North Carolina, where all the moonshine runners would gather and race to see who had the fastest souped up cars. It was mayhem and as unorganized as it gets. But in December of 1947 the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing was formed.
