Terminology |
There are lot of different abbreviations, and cyber slang on the Internet. Most of it comes up when two or more casual people chat. Reading in an Internet chat room is like hearing another language to some people. I suggest you read all these terms before reading the rest of the document. Here is a list of terms: |
Newbie- someone who is new to something. Oldies- people who have been around the game for a long time, and knows a lot. N00b- newbie Rookie- people who know some what of a game, or something. But not considered a pro or oldie. Junk Mail- mail that is sent to you that is most the time of no importance to you. Some e-mail programs can filter it. SCN- short for Scenario. A one map play for Age of Empires/2/Empire Earth. SD- short for Scenario Design. Referred to most forum types. CPN- short for Campaign. A combination of Scenarios for Age of Empires/2/Empire Earth, most other Real Time Strategy games. AI- short for Artificial Intelligence. A file used to define a computer’s behavior. LoL- short for Laugh out Loud, mostly. Also means Lots of Love, but I doubt many game players would use that meaning. JK- short for Just Kidding. BRB- Be Right Back. L8TR- sounds and means Later. Sound it out. Forumer- user who participates in a Forum. VIP- short for Very Important Person. Normally a person who is from a gaming company, who is at the site/forum to visit, and give advice, or even take advice. Cherub- at Age of King’s Heaven, an official. Angel- at Age of King’s Heaven, an official. Above Cherub. AoE- short for Age of Empires AoK- short for Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings, or The Conquerors. AoM- short for Age of Mythology. EE- short for Empire Earth. AoKH- short for Age of Kings Heaven. EEH- short for Age of Kings Heaven. AoM- short for Age of Mythology Heaven. HG- short for Heavens Games. It is a gaming site ring, like Planets. WTF- short for What the Fu*K. WTH- short for What the Hell. NM- short for Never Mind. Forget what they said. Y- short for Yes. Y?- short for Why. Sound it out. TK- short for Team Killer. WWW- short for World Wide Web FTP- an internet file, where people can upload files on their computer. ISP- short for Internet Service Provider. Homepage- the beginning web page for the site. The main page. ICQ- a messenger. Download at www.icq.com ZONE- short for the MSN Gaming Zone, at www.zone.com. AoKH Blacksmith- where you download AoK files; SCNs, CPNs, AI, etc. And you can submit your work there. GoD- Guild of Designers. A Scenario Design Team. GoDCraft- Guild of Designers’ web site, at http://us.oocities.com/godcraft/index.html. SCN Punk- a web site that is geared toward all AoK related games. Very big, even bigger than AoKH or EEH. It hosts the biggest SCN Design teams, games, and the SCN PUNK Design team. Host- the user who runs and configures the Online game. Server- what you play a game on, when on the Internet. IP#- write it down. It is your computer number you need for Direct connect, and Internet stuff. Flood/Spam- to post messages that are off-topic too many times. It is hated. Flame- to insult, defame. Flamer/Troll- someone who insults or defames people. Not liked at all. Moderator- user who looks over the forum. He/she controls the messages. Web master- person who runs the web site. IMHO- "In my Honest Opinion" ICQ- Online Instand Messenger. Download at http://web.icq.com. It is one of the mostly used messengers amongst the designers. Geocites- Made by Yahoo. It is were you can make your own website for free. Good for starting off. But, not the best, so I heard. Trainer- A program that gets into the AoK engine coding and changes things so you can cheat in a multiplayer game. It is illigal, and is strictly being fought against by the developers of the game. |
