| Mighty Oak The leaves have withered and all that's left are grayish harsh branches with no signs of life Revealing the bark that is its outer soul While underneath the course, dark , dry skin its green , crisp and full of life The dormant branches sway as the cool Autumn wind bellows through the spindly whips Then comes the blanket of winter White crisp snow covers the countryside and protects this creation of mother-nature Blanketed from the cold winds it stands strong and tall As the snow starts to melt the new buds start to form The bright sun shinning on the hard outer surface seems to soften the tough skin Starting a new the Mighty Oak never falters It shades us from the harsh sun of summer and lends its beauty all year round Oh to sit under the Mighty Oak on a cool spring day and close your eyes and dream Being transported back to our youth Standing taking a deep breath in you can smell the earth, you can smell spring in the air, you can smell life a new being created all around you For years to come the Mighty Oak will always stand strong and tall lending its majesty to the coming generations Written by: Tammy Lynn |
