God Came Down

God came down and Glory pierced my soul,
For Jesus gave me power in the Spirit
To receive the mighty presence, the goal
Of all who would see Jesus first and fit,
The newborn Prince of Peace and love,
Carried God’s essence from realms above.

God came down and whispered in my ear,
“You can give your life and body to me,
For in My Hands there is nothing left to fear,
Only trust and never doubt, I am with thee.”
It flashed through my soul like a bolt
Of lightning that gave me quiet a jolt.

God came down, gave me time to think,
Is this really what I desire to give all
To Him that I have for just the blink
Of time I have left before the call
That brings us to the end of life, and
The beginning of beauty, God’s own plan.

God came down, His Glory I could not see,
But I felt His radiance in my mind,
Filling every part of my body and being
With love eternal, forever may I find
To live always in His presence and place,
Where Jesus and the angels we face.

God came down in the form of a child,
His only Son born of a virgin called Mary,
Who gave His life to redeem us from the wild
Of satan’s subtle lies, “do you believe in fairy
Tales told by some superstitious monk.
What a silly batch of mythical, storied junk.”

God came down in His triumphant Son,
Who gathered all that believed on Him
And not in satan’s worldly doings done,
Calling each by name who lived not by whim,
But by the Word of God and Jesus sought
For by no other could their souls be bought.

God came down and pierced me to the heart,
So I could never from Him depart.

A Dry Thirsty Land

The land was parched and burned,
So many people there were dying,
Not of thirst but what they spurned,
The love of God they were not trying.
They sought the glitter and the glitz
We call Christmas, it gives us fits

To find that right gift for some one
Who is so special in our lives
That we open our hearts as none
Would do for us, except He who survives,
Who is the only true meaning of the day
We truly call Christmas, but do we say,

I love You Lord, for You alone
Give us living water that quenches thirst,
And for all our sins will now atone
Forever to him who is last, but first
Of those raised from the dead ground,
With Him we must then be found.

Jesus the new born King who gave
Up all heavens beauty and glory
That we have never seen, save
When we dream as a wondrous story
Is whispered in our hearts and minds
“I came for you, see the many signs.”

That heaven and earth produce
To honor Him who is the one
To whom all power that will reduce
This dried up thirst under the sun,
Fitted for the sacrifice of love
To dwell forever in realms above.

So let us tell the wonderful story
Of Jesus and his love for man
That He gave up heavens glory
To be born where hay and sand
Sheltered the animals we need,
But the Christ we do not heed.

Lift our voices in great old songs
Of Christmas in the recent past,
Sing with a shout as our heart longs
For this true meaning now at last,
Glory to God in the highest place!
Now is salvation for every race!

My Jesus, Oh, how I love you
Only let me show it as is due.
