Muhammad (PBUH) - the Last messenger of Allah - who proposed
a practical code of conduct to be followed by a Muslim at all
times in the life. But now imagine are we Muslims, who value our
beloved Prophet the most after Allah Almighty, ready to welcome
him in our home and society. Have we ever wondered, how the Prophet
(PBUH) would be classified if he were here with us today? A simple
man with simple tastes who did not have enough to eat and who
was honest. A person, who could not, would not lie; a person who
valued integrity and honesty over bribery and corruption; a person
who preferred going hungry, rather than stealing food; a person
who valued the afterlife over the life in this world; a person
who valued simplicity over materialism.
He would not have wanted
to live in a "White house". Ordinary people would have been after
his money, because he gave away so generously. It makes me cry
and it makes me hurt to realize that we would probably have treated
the Prophet as bad or perhaps even worse than the people who treated
him thus in Mecca when he started to preach.
Have you ever seen how big a house the Prophet (PBUH) owned?
It would have put us all to shame. Have you ever wondered how
much property the Prophet owned? It would have shamed us even
more. If any man ever saw the way that the Prophet treated his
wives, he would have advised him not to treat them so lightly.
But he was a prophet who came almost 1430 years ago, and he was
no ordinary prophet- he was the "Khatim-un Nabiyeen", the Seal
of the Prophets. He prayed a lot to God that his beloved "Ummat",
his followers, should not go astray. But if he were to appear
today, in front of us, we would have scarcely recognized him.
In fact we would have classified him as an unsuccessful person,
because he would not have come up to our so-called "modern standards
of success".
