Voice Actor Interviews |
Here, are results of voice interviews with DBZ voice actors. Each one is out of books, magazines or websites. (All interviews arent edited at all, they are all as I found them) -This note will be gone when the section is complete- |
Interveiw with Sean Schemmel and Chris Sabat: -What characters do you play? Chris: I do the parts of Vegeta, Piccolo, Yamcha and some other characters. Sean: I do the parts of Goku and King Kai. -How did you get into voice acting? Sean: Stop that Goku! For those of you reading this a blow-up doll is getting kind of freindly with me. Except that he happens to be my character. (That was in there! This yellow writing isnt, but that was! LOL!) Sean: I had alot of experoence as a musician. I also did puppet work. A lot of my training was just watching TV as a kid, turning down the volume and making up my own voices. I answered an ad in the paper for a casting call for actors for DBZ. And I got two parts! Chris: As a kid I spent most of my time doing the same thing Sean did on TV. I also loved making prank calls. I was a musician, then went to a radio and TV college. I did a DBZ movie, then they asked me if I'd come on board to help cast and direct the episodes. -What did you want to be when you were 10 years old? Chris: As close to any girl as humany possible. I wanted to be covered in mud, I wanted a new bike. I was'nt thinking of careers when I was 10 years old. Sean: I just wanted to not shovel snow anymore because we were living in lowa. -What's you fave episode of DBZ? Chris: When Gohan defeats Cell. All the Z-fighters are shooting at Cell at the same time and Gohan is powering up to these enormous levels and his father is speaking to him form another dimension. Its the most amazing moment in DBZ. Sean: Gohan's birthday party. Goku spends a lot of time with his family and friends because something terrible is going to happen. And the scenes in there are real tear-jerkers. -Your fave character? Sean: Im a big Piccolo fan. He's got lots of tricks up his sleeve and you never know how powerful he is. Chris: Vegeta. You want him to be so good and he never is quite good enough. There's an episode where he's asked to wear a pink shirt and it's just beyond him and he says: "I'm a warrior, not a variety of flower!" -Is voicing DBZ different to other cartoons? Chris: Yes. In the Simpsons or South Park they do the audio then draw over the top of it. In our case its already been done. DBZ was made in Japan in 1986, so we dont have the oppurtunity to say lines how we want to. We have to watch it and put in words in the characters mouth. -Do you find yourself doing character's movments? Sean: Absolutly. If I'm doing a scene where Goku's crying, my eyes well up. Ih he's screaming his head off, Im screaming my head off. -What's the worst part about being a voice actor? Chris: The incredible amount of energy it takes. Sean: I dont like powering up becuase it'll just be a close up and you have to go "ahhhhhh" for ages. >> MORE ARE COMING SOON!!!!!!!!!<< |
