Son Gohan
Gohan first appeared in the series as a four year old sheltered little boy, and grew to be so much more.
At the beginning of the series we see a little boy chasing after his hat, and we realize that this isn't Gokou, it's gotta be his son, Gohan. From the very beginning, young Gohan has to deal with life. His life is tramatic, to start off with, he is kidnapped by his uncle, Raditzu, and kept as bait for Son Gokou, but Raditzu,underestimating little Gohan doesn't even have an inkling of what is to come. Seeing his father getting the crap beaten out of him, Gohan gets so angry that he releases an enormous ki and breaks out of Raditzu's space pod. Doing a lil spin roll, he gets even angrier and head butts his uncle in the chest, meanwhile knocking himself out. Just when he is about to be killed by an angry, hurt Raditzu, Son Gokou comes to the rescue. All Gohan probobly remembers from this is seeing his dad falling from the sky. When he wakes up, he finds that things are different. He is all of the sudden being trained by Piccolo, but wants his daddy. When finding out that daddy got a hole blown though his chest, all he does is cry. That is until Piccolo dumps him into a lake and thows him at a big rock formation. After Piccolo sees Gohan use his power unknowingly, he decides to train Gohan to use his latent power. Piccolo's first part of training is...survival. Young Gohan is left to fend for himself in a wilderness for six months. After some monkey business (Gohan turns Oozaru several times) the real training begins.
When the Saiyajins arrive on earth, everybody figures that this is Gohan's time to shine, but as he frequently says through this fight, "I'm scared!". The result, ultimately is the death of 4 senshi, including Piccolo-san who gives up his own life so that Gohan won't get killed by Nappa. But, to no avail, Nappa is about to squash Gohan under his foot when out of nowhere comes Son Gokou, saving his helpless little Rice patty, Gohan. hehe. After the Saiyajin (Vegeta only, seeing as how Nappa was killed by him) leaves, the rest of the remaining senshi decide to go to Nameksei in order to wish back the 4 that died. Joining the group is Gohan, who goes along with Kuririn and Buruma.
After training a little on the space ship with Kuririn, Gohan and the rest finally arrive on Nameksei (although in the anime, some more crap happenned, but ehh). Right after arriving on Nameksei, Kuririn and Gohan feel an intense ki of somebody that they haven't heard of before. Then just a moment later, all of their hopes for the dragonballs are dashed when they feel a familiar ki, that of Vegeta, who has just come though the atmosphere in a space pod. While discussing what to do, they are confronted by some men in Saiyan armor, but they aren't Saiyajins. After beating the crap out of those wannabes, they listen in on a conversation between Freeza and some local Namekseijins. When some of them are killed, and the children Namekseijins are about to have the same fate, Gohan decides he has to do something. Having to make sure Gohan doesn't get killed, Kuririn fallows and saves a little Nameksijin. After flying off to safety, they find out that his name is Dende, and that all of the people on his planet are neither male or female, and all they need to survive is water. While talking to Dende, Gohan feels multiple ki-s suddenly growing dim, then not being able to be sensed at all. These aren't Freeza's men, these are Namekseijins...dying. Promising Dende he'll do somthing, Gohan has to make a decision. If he finds a dragonball, Freeza and Vegeta may not be able to wish for immortality, but they'll kill every Namekseijin looking for the last ball. However, if they get all of the balls, they'll become immortal, and probably kill everyone anyway. Seeking help, Dende tells Gohan about the Great Elder (called Guru in USA). After getting a power upgrade, Gohan goes back to the cave that Buruma was staying in and tells her the good news. Telling him that there is a Dragonball not to far away, Buruma suggests that Gohan go get one, and find a time to gather the rest. While making his little trip, Gohan is met
by Vegeta, who would normally kill him, but since he has immortality on the mind, decides to let him live. Not knowing what Gohan had, Vegeta flies off in his search for glory. After telling the rest what happenned, they decide to play it safe until Son Gokou arrives.
