Dragon Ball

After the Dr. Slump fad by Akira Torimaya had seemed to be over in about mid-1985, he decided to focus on another comedy-like anime called Dragonball. It was a cartoon that started as a 13-episode joke based on a flick called Journey To The West, but fans were so into it that it turned into a 5-year saga. OK, enough talk, and here it is, DRAGONBALL, the original Japanese storyline.

In the forest of Mt.Puazuo, a boy finishes breaking up wood for a fire, prays to a ball, and goes out to catch a fish for dinner. Elsewhere, a girl drives up the same mountainside. He starts skipping out onto the road, and is accidentally hit by the teen's car. The boy thinks the car is a monster, so he picks it up and tosses it.(SHEESH!!) She says that she's human, (she's amazed that a boy of his age is wearing a costume tail) and he stops his attack, even though she dosen't look anything like him. (he's a bit skeptical)He asks her why she was riding in such a monster, and she explains it's not a monster, but a car!(he still has no clue what she's talking about) He shows her his home, and tells her that this ball is his grandfather. She rushes to grab the "Dragonball" as she calls it, but he tells her that it's his grandfather. To prove the boy wrong, the girl "Buruma"(she has her name on her shirt) pulls two more balls out of her bag(he now thinks he has three grandfathers) Buruma explains that there are seven of these numbered balls(she calls them Dragonballs)and once you get them all together you can summon the Eternal Dragon, Shenlong, and he will grant a wish. The catch is, only one wish can be made each year, and after the wish is made the balls are scattered in various directions around the Earth and remain as everyday stones until 1 year has passed. She then shows him a watch-type objetc, called a Dragon Radar, which tracks down the magic balls on the small radar screen displayed.(It dosen't work when they're stones, mind you) She has the 6 and 5 ball, and he has the 4 ball. The boy is impressed.

Buruma knows what she's going to wish for--the perfect boyfriend. She wants to take the 4-star ball, but the boy refuses. She tells him she'll show him her underwear as a bribe, but it dosen't work. Instead, she offers to work in a partnership with him(she really just wants him for a bodyguard until she has all 7)He agrees, for he wants to see the world. So they leave his pagoda(with the 4-star ball, although the boy has it with him)and Buruma checks her radar, to find that the next ball is 1200 KM away. She is amazed that he destroyed her car, and she asks the boy's name. He says it's Gokou, and he likes being called Son Gokou. She tells him her name is Buruma. She pulls out a small capsule, throwsit, and it become a Motorcycle. Gokou tells her she's a witch. Buruma explains it's just a product from Capsule Corp,(her father, Dr.Brief, owns it)and they're called Hoi Poi capsules, for Hoi is the sound they make when thrown, and Poi is sound that they make when they explode. She tells him to get on, and she asks him how old he is. He says 14, so she tells him he's not aloud to drive it(I assume she's 16)He likes the ride. About halfway through the ride, Buruma tells Gokou that she needs to "relieve " herself. Gokou dosen't understand. Then there's a scream, and Gokou follows the voice to a see a giant pterodactyl getting ready to have Buruma for lunch. He ties up Gokou with some rope, and flies off. Gokou frees himself with his tail, and he runs to the motorcycle. He drives the motorcycle off a cliff, and gets some air, but not enough. He tells his Nyogi-Bo(a magic expandable bo given to him by his grandfather)to extend and he smacks the dinosaur on the head. He grabs Buruma (who has wet herself) and they get back on track.

It's getting dark, so Buruma pulls out a capsule. She throws the Hoi Poilage except for Pocawatha, whom he wants to marry. Buruma notices that the old woman has a Dragonball in her possesion, but won't give it up. She tells the old woman that they will get rid of Oolong AND get the girls back, so the old woman finally tells them that they can have it. So she dresses Gokou up as a very ugly Pocawatha, and sends him out into the street when Oolong, in a 13-ft ogre shape comes, and he dosen't see his face. He notices that Gokou is trembling, and he thinks that he's scared, so he changes into a suave secret agent.(Gokou really needs to use the bathroom!) Buruma sees the guy, and immediantly runs out of the house! Oolong is stunned that there is ANOTHER girl here, and Gokou runs into the bushes to relieve himself. Oolong notices, and he wonders what Gokou is doing. HE looks over and----is exrtemely annoyed!!! Oolong changes into a big bull, and Gokou gets ready with his Nyogi-Bo. Suddenly Oolong notices it has been 5 minutes since he has come to town(he can only hold consecutive shapes for 5 minutes then he needs to turn back) so he runs out of town and behind a wall. His real form is a small pig in a green outfit. He comes back, as a robot with a bowl of Sweet Pork Soup. He plans to boil Gokou in it. After they bicker about who is stronger, Oolong gets careless and burns his finger. He changes into a Vampire Bat, and Gokou calls Kintoun to chase him. He realizes he isn't going fast enough, and he switches to a rocket, but then Oolong runs out of time, and Gokou catches him in mid air as his real form. Oolong shows the people where his house is, and they get the Dragonball. Oolong is really a big coward, but he thought if he learned shapeshifting it would help him, but it's not all what it's cracked up to be.

Buruma and Gokou decide to take Oolong along, for he could be useful. They reach a river, heading towards the Diablo Desert.(they are trying to get to Mt.Frypan, where the next ball is.)Buruma feeds Oolong a big yellow pill because he says he is hungry--it's really a pill that makes you go to the bathroom whenever someone says 'piggy' three times. WHen they are almost there, Oolong tells Buruma he will not go. Buruma yells out 'PIGGY PIGGY PIGGY!' and he goes into the bushes fo a while.

They arrive in the Diablo Desert, and meet a bandit named Yamucha and his rabbit friend Puar.Puar calls herself Pool, the great shape-shifting maniac, but Oolong recognizes her from shape-shifting school. She tells the gang that Oolong always used to bully her around and steal her lunch money. So Yamucha pulls out a samurai sword, and tells everyone to give him all the Hoi Poi capsules, money, and food and he'll let them pass to Mt.Frypan. Gokou challenges Yamucha to a battle, a since Gokou is starving, he dosen't do too well. Yamucha is about to finich him off, whne suddenly Buruma comes out fom Oolong's, hiding place(she fell asleep on their way there)adn scares Yamucha away. (he's 16 too, and scared of women.)

At night, Buruma makes a two-floor camper from a Hoi Poi and goes to take a shower. Oolong then asks Gokou why he's traveling with such a grouch, and he says that they're searching for all 7 Dragonballs, and has to re-explain everything to Oolong. Oolong tells him that he should wish for something like all the money in the world, or 300 girls. Gokou asks Oolong why he would want 300 Burumas to listen to, but then Buruma comes down and announces that she dosen't have any clean clothes. She says she is going to bed and expects her clothes to be clean in the morning, and that if she catches either of them up there she'll shoot them with her gun.(she always seems to have one handy) SO, she goes upstairs, and Oolong drugs Gokou with some juice filled with Sleepy Grass(a sort of sleeping method used throughout Dragonball) Oolong runs upstairs, hoping to take the Dragonballs and scram, but then Yamucha and Puar come barging in, suddenly ruining his plan! Puar changes into a very ugly Gokou, and she comes upstairs.(Oolong wonders how "Gokou" has woke up already) Oolong changes into Buruma i na towel and the two thieves are tricking each other!! "Gokou" tells "Buruma" that he wants to show her something outside, so they leave, giving Yamucha access. HE walks upstairs, and thinks the "lumps" under the blanket are the Dragonballs.(He had been listening to Gokou telling Oolong.)Suddenly a scream is heard all around the desert.

Meanwhile, Oolong and Puar are outside, and they each detransform, adn run back to the camper just in time to see Yamucha running in a panic out.

In the morning, Oolong tells Buruma that he didn't finish washing the clothes since he was too busy with Yamucha.(Buruma thinks Yamucha is pretty and is happy he came back)She tells Oolong that he had better been nice to Yamucha, and Oolong gets sick. He tells Buruma that there is an out fit upstairs, and she comes down in a bunny costume. SHe is extremely annoyed, but they get in a Capsule Car and start off to Mt.Frypan.

Yamucha and Puar choose an alternate route, and they run into a girl with black hair, nad in a bikini-type armor.(Her name is Chi-Chi)She sees yamucha, and slices him in the head wiht her DeathDisc. He kicks her into a tree, and they get out of there!!!

Buruma and the gang are driving in the car, and they can see the gigantic flame on top of the mountain. Buruma asks Gokou if he can fly up on Nimbus and get the ball. He tries, but gets toasted and falls into a pond.

Buruma and Oolong are looking for things, and suddenly, Ox, the Magical Cow King, tosses a gigantic axe at Buruma and almosts hits her. He's about to get her when Gokou comes and tries to beqat him up. He tells Gokou that he and Gokou's grandfather trained together at Master Roshi's. They talk for about half the show(Ox thought Buruma and Oolong were thieves) and then Ox tells Gokou he needs Master Roshi's help to put out the fire on top of his mountain. Master Roshi comes, and says he will only do it if Buruma hooks him up with a lady. So he powers up,(he really looks strong) and fires a giant blue laser blast at the mountain(This is calles the Kamehameha wave, the most popular attackin DB,DBZ,DBGT) He not only puts out the fire, but he also destroys half the mountain!!!! Buruma tells Oolong to cahnge into Buruma to fulfill her part of the bargian, but Oolong says all the girls he knows are pigs, so Buruma says she'll find one for Master Roshi. (she never does) Ox then offers his daughter to Gokou for marriage, her name is Chi-Chi.(Yamucha, who is listneing nearby, remembers a girl to Ox's description and he runs back to the girl, tells her he loves her, so that he won't get crushed by Ox, and runs away.she's pretty surprised)

Chi-Chi eventually comes home, and finds out she has a boyfriend, and is flattered(she just dosne't know if it's Yamucha or Gokou!!
