Arwen Evenstar

I like this costume from the Fellowship of the Rings. Plus I figure I already have the grey horse, just need to make the costume. I couldn't make the costme in time for one show, but our barn was hosting a Halloween show for the kids. So I decided I'll have 3 months to fiddle with it. The pattern was complex and this I was the first costume that was totally made by me without a lot of help from my friends. Most of my friends are in college. So I learned a lot from this project. Got a bit fustrated with some parts, but overall I had fun. One of the Barn Moms helped me with the sleeves. Found out what easing means. :) All a learning experience.
I had a lot of fun with this costume. I didn't totally finish it. I didn't do the belt or the embrodiery on the collar. I also didn't do the underskirt. Just due to time. If I wear this to Katsucon I probably will have it done by then. It was a nice costume to ride in. I wore my english boots and breeches and the hardess part was mounting with it on. My horse wasn't fazed by the drapping fabric. It was cold outside so we made it a short ride. Riding in it was not that hard since it was split in the middle.
I got this nice fabric that was very forgiving. If I screwed up I could seam rip it without it falling apart. I really like this fabric. I wanted to go with this lighter grey, but I think this was a much better buy. The sleevers were this nice lavender fabric I have no idea what it is called.
Overall for my first costume I'm really happy. It isn't perfect, but I didn't expect it to be. I had a lot of fun and that's what matters. ^_^ I had something in my hands that he wanted. Isn't he so cute. :)
Used Simplicity Pattern 9891. Altered it with the help of AlleyCatScratch.com. Specific Website
