Lady in the Shop

It had been three days since Leon had walked out the petshop and had not come back. Every time the door opened, The Count held on to the hope that it was his blond hair detective. Yet every time it had been someone looking for a pet. D's frustration and concerned started to show on his face, he stopped eating, he wondered around the shop with his head down, and the other day he didn't even both to open the shop, but left the door unlocked in the hope the Leon would come. The animals in the shop could see the change in D and had become deeply worried about him.

On the fourth day, all the animals in the shop begged D to go and see the Detective at the police station. D was relented and went to see Leon, yet the fear of Leon's reaction clung to him like the incense of his shop. He walked in to the station and he felt all the eyes there watching him as he made his way to Leon's desk, only to discover that it was Jill there.
"Hello Count. Leon's not here at the moment"
"Where is he?" asked D though it almost came out as "Where has he been?"
"Your worried about something aren't you?" Said Jill seeing the pain in D's eyes. "It's got something to do with Leon's engagement hasn't it?"
D nodded "I don't think the Detective is....is making the right choice!"
"Your not the only one, I don't think it's right either, But Leon thinks he's in love and nothing is going to change his mind!" She paused, catching her breath "He's just so stubborn and there is just something about this woman I don't like!"
D became curious "Who is this woman, Miss Jill? What is her case?"
"I really shouldn't be telling you this but when we brought her boyfriend in and checked him out, his blood count showed that he had had some sort of drugs the night he attacked her, yet he's not an addict. Plus this drug is a special kind, while most drugs give you a buzz for a certain amount of time, this one stayed in his blood stream for at least five days!"
"Are you saying the lady in question drugged him?"
"Yep and killed him"
"What?"
"Didn't Leon tell you? The guy was sent to hospital but there was nothing the doctors could do for him, he died a very messy horrible death and she got the house and all his money out of it!"
"Do you think that's what it's about?"
"Yeah but there is not...NOT many sweets you haven't tried Count D, I'm sure Leon just hasn't found a new sweet for you yet!"
"What?" D turned and saw Leon standing behind him. He nodded to Jill to show his understanding, and then turned to face the detective.
"Hello Detective!"
"D? What are you doing here?"
"I came to see you, to see if you were alright! You haven't come to see my shop and I..."
"None of your animals have missed behaved so there was no point going over!"
D felt as if Leon had just slapped him in the face.
"This can't be" He thought, " Even if my animals haven't missed behaved he should still be compelled to go to my pet shop!"
"Is there something wrong D?" asked Leon who hated to see D hurt face.
"I thought...I thought we were friends." Whimpered D
Leon put his hands on D's shoulders and looked at him in the face "We are D. It's just.... things have been quite busy here, haven't they Jill!"
Jill nodded and continued to clear up Leon's desk.
"Look D, if you like I'll come over as soon as I'm finished here!" said Leon
D smiled and let out a small squeal of delight and hugged Leon. Leon went bright red then even deeper red when everyone in the office building was watching.
"Umm...D! Can you let go? Your cutting off my circulation!" said Leon as he tried to push the Count off him.
"LEON!" The chief's voice boomed thought out the office, reminding everyone to get back to work.
"D you got to let go! I've got to go and see the chief!"
D let go reluctantly and watched Leon run as if the dogs of hell were after him in to the chief's office.
"Jill, would you mind coming over to my petshop before Leon and telling me more about the case?"
"Sure, I got off in about an hour for break, I'll come then"

D walked back to his shop in a lot better mood then before he left, yet he still felt concerned to the fact that his influence wasn't working on Leon, but that could wait! It was this unusual woman that had captured the detective's heart that concerned him. He had been in his Pet Shop for no more the ten minutes when a costumer came in.
"Welcome, How my I help you?"
The woman was tall with long red hair with huge brown eyes. She was wearing a denim jacket, white t-shirt, and a denim skirt.
"I'm looking for something that I can look after and keep me company when my fiancée is at work. I think I prefer something small!"
"May I suggest a cat?" said D as he picked up a beautiful orange tabby, with huge green eyes.
"My god, what a beautiful tabby. What's it's name?"
" Scarophion, her kind is very sensitive"
"I'll take her!"
"Very well, but there is a contract that you must sighed and there are some rules to follow!" said D as he pulled out the contract. The woman looked at it and read the words allowed.
" One only feed her fresh milk and fish. Two, Never lie more then three times in front of her. Three, never let any one else see her. What about my Fiancée?"
"He will be the only exception to that rule, please sign here!"
The woman quickly signed the contract and D placed the cat in the basket.
"Please take good care for her, and don't forget the rules!" D reminded her as she left. He was about to go in when Jill turned up.
"Hello Ji..."
"D, did a tall woman, with red hair and brown eyes just walk out of her with one of your pets?"
"Yes, a Miss...Deborah Carr"
"D!" Jill shouted, "That was Leon's Fiancée!"
