Darkness had
begun ta' fall by da' time we entered da' deep Westwood. We was searchin'
fer an orc battle-party that was rumored ta' be plannin' on hittin'
da' town of Foggyton. Our party consisted of meself, da' Bard, hedge
wizard and of course our resident bag o' nerves, the human called Raglin.
It'd been 'bout 5 or 6 hours of travelin' before we started hearin'
da' telltale signs o' dem stinkin' orcs.
We had traveled fer a better part o' the day and were fixin' ta' bed
down fer the night. Darkness had fallen when it happened. I smelt'em
at first. It were a foul unclean stench, like a month old dead thing.
I signaled ta' Calaris, da' half elf Druid, me findin's. Da' Bard, Jy,
seemed jus' a little spooked by da whole thing, and Rags was next ta'
useless in dis situation. (Since 'ees a human and all and can't see
ina dark) I says to dem ta' stay here an I would do some scoutin' ta'
get a better fix on 'em.
Da' forest was thick wit trees, but not so much as ta' prevent me from
movin'. I would stop often ta' listen. I could hear dem breathin' but
not see da' dirty buggers. I stopped and listened again. Soon they moved
close enough ta' make out der shapes in da' night. There were 3 dat
I could see when I heard me friends callin fer me. Not wantin' ta pass
up a good fight, I screamed a battle cry and charged at da' nearest
one.
If'n it was brighter, I would'a liked to see da' look 'o surprise on
da' orcs face as me ax chopped through 'em. 'E went down wit a scream.
Unfortunately, dat scream alerted de other orcs and dey came a runnin'.
Me friends heard too, so dey came out ta' find me. Everyone but Raglin.
He would'a I suppose if'n he could see, but it were dark so he stayed
by some trees.
Da' next orc was ready fer me
Or so 'e thought. I chopped him
a good one as he came a'hollering through da' trees. But da' dad-burned
idjit wouldn't fall. Me axe got caught up in 'is armor and I couldn't
get it loose. Kind of surprised me and he got a good lick in under me
guard. I could hear da' bard now, charging through da' trees. Me next
swing took down da' stubborn orc. I stomped on 'im a couple o' times
jus' fer good measure.
Me friends got there jus' as more of da' orc scum appeared. Cal and
Jy joined battle with them as I moved into position to dispatch da'
last 'o da' original three. Maybe I will be able ta' turn dem half-breeds
into some real fighters one day. Dey have heart, I'll give 'em dat.
It's da' skills we needs ta' work on. Anyhow, De last orc jumps at me.
I bring me axe down on 'em but he manages ta' block it. Now if'n there
is one thing I cain't stand, it's a orc dat refuses ta' die. Pissed
me right off it did. So when 'e bit me in da' arm dat was all I could
stand.
I freed me axe and swung it across 'is midsection, cutting through
flesh and bone with ease. 'E looked down in shock, but didn't fall.
So I brought me axe down one last time, nearly cuttin' 'im it two lengthways.
I don't know what da' others did exactly, but by dat time da' battle
was over.
Ahhhh
nuthin' better than a little fight ta' unwind with 'fore
ya hit da' sack. I slept like a newborn tucked away inna diamond mine.
