Stirge
This bird/insect-like creature attacked Jyhazen in the upper level of the old farm house above Reynor's hideout. It had four small, pincer-like legs that were rusty-red to reddish brown in color, and its eyes and feet were yellowish. A nasty little bugger indeed!!!! Here is Jy's account as told to a future inn patron over a fine glass of Wyvern Ale:
"When I first entered the room I heard a buzzing noise in some of the overgrown greenery in the corner of the room. On closer inspection, a horrible looking flying creature came bursting out of the foliage. It began fluttering around the room and trying to stick me with it's snout. It didn't take much for me to understand that I didn't want to be hit by that snout, it had dried blood on it from it's last meal. I realized that armed with a rapier as I was, a piercing sword, I couldn't hope to score a killing blow easily as it was an agile flyer. Improvisation was the order of the day, I took off my cloak, a very nice one I picked up in Belanost by the way, and attempted to corral it into the folds. I had to dodge some attacks but managed to get the bugger in the cloak, I then smashed it against the nearest wall until it's thrashings were done. It poked many holes into my cloak trying to escape. That was what made me mad, I had to travel all the way to Foggyton without my cloak....imagine the site a man without so much...."
Jy rambles on for several minutes about the particulars of dress for different formal and informal occasions highlighted by an elaborate speech on the best attire for attracting ladies.
