IRIS COKEROFT
Director and Founder of Suncoast Chorus from its inception in 1975, with Charter being granted in 1976. Led the chorus to three first place wins in Region#9 (Florida) and subsequently competed at the International level, placing within the top one-half of all competing choruses worldwide.
Directed the chorus for the Top Hat Club, Region #9
Assistant Director to Ozzie Westley, Miami Chapter of Sweet Adelines for six years from 1967-1973.
As member of the Sweet Adelines Music Faculty for Region #9, participated in numerous seminars given to enhance the music education of the members of the organization.
Formed the Everglades Elementary School Chorus and directed it for two years until a full-time music teacher was hired.
Led Goldcoast Chorus to first place win in Region #9 competition, April, 1994 and subsequently at the International level, placing within the top half of all competing choruses worldwide. Placed 2nd in Region#9, April 1996 and May 1997.
Led Goldcoast Chorus to the Region 9 first place in 1998- and the Atlanta International competition in 1999.
Sang LEAD in HURRICANE HONEYS, 1967 Queens of Harmony.
Composer and co-writer of such favorites as "They Wrote Em in the Good Old Days", "Going to the Ball", "Military March", "Love and Good Wishes", and "Dixie Ain't What it Used to Be".
Was member of the Show Committee for the Coronet Club of SAI.
Has participated in musical productions for the Orange Bowl Parade in Miami since 1978 and for several half-time shows in the Orange Bowl Game.
Has produced several original shows, including "The Best Witch", a children's show promoting Halloween safety.
Co-wrote "Roman Holiday" an original song for show and competition for Goldcoast Chorus.
Co-wrote "Roman Holiday Show Opener" for the Florida Gold Annual Show in March of 2002.
