| Eymr thought of all the abilities that he could have, he thought about magic, flight, water, and the other elements. He looked up to see Soz hand Dak a small green orb, he looked back down and tried to think about the best ability for him. He could easily end both their quest if he asked for a searching ability, but he quickly go rid of that idea for he wanted to stay friends with Dak for a long time. "Can't you think of anything?" asked Dak. "There's to many to chose from, and I can't think of the best one for me" answered Eymr as he looked at Dak as saw his eyes cloud over, he scooted over to Dak and waited for his vision to end. "What did you see?" asked Eymr when Dak shook his head to clear his eyes. "I saw that you were in a fight and lost, the fighter came to your body on the ground and brought his sword down on your neck and shouted that he had killed the last of the Vips" answered Dak. Eymr nodded and turned to Soz. "I've chosen the ability that I want,” said Eymr. "Alright now tell the minidragon to try and make the orb glow and you think really hard on your ability,” said Soz as Eymr nodded and turned to Dak. "Soz says to try and make the orb glow,” said Eymr as Dak nodded and glared at the orb and to his surprise it glowed. Eymr quickly closed his eyes and thought hard about the ability to be a trained fighter and with every fight that he would get better, Eymr felt a gripped at his heart then a squeezing and finally the pain of it was gone. He shot open his eyes and saw that the orb was gone. "Are you all right?" asked Soz. "I'm fine,” answered Eymr. "It worked, I don't have the green orb but now I'm tired,” said Dak as he dropped the ground and fell asleep. "Your probably tired like your minidragon friend, why don't you sleep" said Soz as Eymr nodded and walked near the fire and lie down and quickly fell asleep. When the sun was high in the sky the two awoke to find that Soz was gone. "What do you think happened to him?" asked Eymr. "He left, when it was morning he packed up his stuff and left. He looked at me and said something but I don't know human so I have no idea what he said but he left us breakfast,” said Dak as he pointed to two loaves of bread. "Well that was nice of him but we never even saw his face and he never asked for our names,” said Eymr as he picked the loaves up and set them in his pack. They cleaned up their camp and made it look like that no one had slept there; they made their way back to the road and continued down it. As they were walking a strap on Eymr's pack snapped which made him fall to the ground. "Are you ok?" asked Dak, "I fine, but now I have to retie the strap. Lets get under that tree and off the road" said Eymr as he picked the pack up and sat down under the tree and started to retie the strap. "Eymr, look. This stream looks like a waterfall for it drops off this small ledge,” said Dak as he circled around a small waterfall. "Now all you need to do is find the other trail that we could go down,” said Eymr. "I... found it, and the old tree too" said Dak. "What" said Eymr as he finished tying the strap and slung the pack on his back. "It's a hidden trail guarded by magic, even I wouldn't of seen it had I not been playing with my magic" said Dak. "Now where's the old tree?" asked Eymr. "It's the tree that you were just under, someone just splashed a bottle of youthening water on it" said Dak as he walked to the tree. "Now how do we enter at?" asked Eymr as he walked to the tree, just then the ground under him began to crumble and crack. He quickly jumped to the safer ground as the ground next to the tree collapsed. "There's your entrance,” said Dak as he leapt into the hole. "It's ok, you can come in" said Dak from the hole. Eymr sighed and leaped into the hole like Dak had; when he landed he looked around and saw that the walls were made of stone like castles. "Dak, does this place look like someone built it?" asked Eymr. "It does to me, and they look like they had help for I smell very old scents of many men,” answered Dak. Eymr's eyes drifted up to the two tunnels which the where supposed to go, he reached into his pack and pulled out the paper and read the directions part. "The paper says that we go left,” said Eymr as he started to head for the left entrance. "Wait for me" said Dak as he ran to Eymr as they walked through the left tunnel, then they came to another room with two tunnels. They went through the right tunnel and came to a room with three tunnels. "Which one do we go down?" asked Dak. "It says to go straight,” answered Eymr as they walked through the center tunnel. They came to a room with many tunnels and at the top of them were numbers, they spotted the number two tunnels and made their way through it. They came to a room with a stone sphinx sitting in the middle, as they walked in the tunnel behind blocked their escape for metal bars came down. Then the stone sphinx shook his head sending dust into the air, it looked around till it spotted them. "It's been a while since someone came, ok it's time for the riddle" said the sphinx as it began to speak another language. "That's an easy one, it's a mushroom" said Eymr, when he answered the sphinx's jaw dropped. "How did you know the answer to that riddle? No one could know for I made up the language,” said the sphinx. "Well, I'm a Vip,” said Eymr. "A Vip, no Vips are aloud in here,” shouted the sphinx as it roared and lunged toward Eymr. As the sphinx lunged Eymr grabbed Dak by his neck ridge and threw him into the air, he then quickly jumped up out of the sphinx's reach. He got an idea and dropped onto the sphinx's head and down into it's back. "Get off,” roared the sphinx as it started to buck and leap, the sphinx began to ram into walls crack stone off of its self. As the Sphinx was bucking Eymr saw a tunnel and pointed at it for Dak to go into it, he quickly flew into it as Eymr leapt from the Sphinx's back and onto the ground. The sphinx realized that he was off and was running toward the tunnel, the sphinx roared and charged him. Eymr stopped and turned and waited for the sphinx, he felt an incredible urge to fight the sphinx. Dak breathed a sigh of relief as he entered the tunnel, he landed and watched outside to see sphinx charging Eymr down and Eymr was just standing there. He was about to fly and get his friend when he saw a black light come from Eymr, the light surrounded him and he became totally covered in black light. Dak watched as the light took a form that he had only heard about in legends; the light had turned Eymr into the most powerful dragon that was a dragon legend. The dragon roared a challenge at the sphinx which roared back, the dragon charged the running sphinx, when they were about to crash together the dragon skidded to the side and gave a slash at the sphinx. Dak had thought that he missed since the sphinx was still running but then he saw the sphinx split apart. He looked up to see the dragon glow black and shrink, soon there was no more dragon and all there was Eymr laying on the ground. It was then that Dak had realized that it was his fault that Eymr changed because he had been thinking about the dragon when Eymr got his new ability. Fear began to fill Dak's mind about what had happened to Eymr, he quickly ran over to his lifeless like body. Dak began to shake his shoulders to wake him up, as the seconds past he began to shake him harder. When Dak stopped shaking him he felt a hand on his shoulder. "Do not fear little one, your friend is about to receive help" said a voice from behind him, Dak turned to see man with gray tips on his dark hair. "How is it that I understand you?" ask Dak. "Well long ago I helped a dragon get his hoard of gold back so he gave me the ability to speak to them" said the man as he picked Eymr up in his arms. "Will Eymr be all right?" asked Dak as the man started to walk away, but Dak quickly caught up to him. "If you mean your friend here, yes. I saw the fight between him and my sphinx and when he went dragon and changed back I'm thinking that it took a lot out of him, but within a few days he will be better" said the man as walked through a few tunnels and came to a palace like ballroom. "Is this your home?" asked Dak as they walked up a flight of stairs. "This part is, but the maze is just there as a defense and so is the sphinx" answered the man as they stopped in front of a wooden door. Dak quickly opened the door and they walked in, the man set Eymr down on a bed and walked out of the room. "If your friend wakes before I come back just go up and down the halls yelling anything you want and I'll come running" said the man as he shut the door behind him. |
