Ombra leapt from a tree branch and to the ground, he looked over his shoulder to hear the group of men running after him. He growled as he pulled out both of his Katanas and waited, the men shouted louder when they spotted him in the middle of the trail. They quickly surrounded him, several pulled out muskets but they looked as if they had only been used once.
Ombra placed his two Katanas together and they melded into a weapon called a No-Dachi, the weapon was long and thin. From the bottom of the handle to the tip of the blade, it reached five feet. As he held the No-Dachi, he reached into a pouch at his side. He then pulled out a single smoke bomb, he slammed it against the ground and as the smoke covered him he disappeared. He had slipped into the shadow world called Scuro; it was exactly the same as this world. The only difference was that one in Scuro could not be seen in this world while those in Scuro could see our world.
Ombra's time was now ticking for whenever he entered Scuro it drained his energy; he quickly sliced the muskets before he stepped out of Scuro and back into our world. Seeing him reappear the men with the guns fired, but the only thing that happened was that the muskets fell to the ground in halves. Ombra sneered through the cloths that covered his face; he gripped his No-Dachi as he sliced the closest man. His swipe was so fast that the man's neck didn't bleed for a few seconds, and then it rolled of the body and onto the ground as the body fell.
"Be careful, the ninja is evil" shouted one of them but was quickly silenced by the No-Dachi. The bloody fight was a short one, but the time in Scuro had exhausted him.
He dropped to one knee as he clutched his heart; he had never known such pain before. It felt as if his lungs were on fire, using his left arm he torn off his cloth mask so that he may breathe easier. It helped for the pain seemed to lessen as he took in many deep breaths, when the pain was gone he removed his hand. He shook as he stood up, but once he was up he felt weak.
"Why is Scuro taking so much from me now, it has never done that much damage to me. The old woman got a break today, for I cannot follow her in my condition" said Ombra as he slipped his mask back on. He held his No-Dachi in both hands; it seemed to hum as it split back into his two Katanas. He sheathed them both as the first drop of rain fell, his head jerked to the sky that he quickly regretted. He sniffed the air and found that a large storm was about to release its freezing water; he looked off the trail and into the forest.
The animals had smelt man and evil, they all had fled. He slowly made his way off the trail and into the forest; the storm seemed to feel sorry for him and held back its water. He reached a small clearing; he looked at the tree trunks and at the ground below them. This was the spot he had been looking for; it was a clearing that could replenish lost energy. He stood in the center and crossed his arms, he then let his head tilt forward. Behind his cloth mask his eyes slowly shut.

"Sleep...Sleep,” the clearing whispered to him as he followed their orders, the storm above would no longer hold back its water. The storm released its icy water through the area, but as the water hit Ombra he never moved. He mind was to far gone for him to be awaken by the rain or the cold, the only thing that would wake him would be when he restored all of his lost energy.
"Look sis, they haven't moved since yesterday,” said a young boy of eight years.
"Are you sure it's not a tree?" asked his younger sister of six years. The boy replied by tossing a stick at the dark figure but they never moved.
"See, I'm gona go touch it" said the boy as he walked into the clearing and up to the black clothed figure. He stopped when he was right next to it; he realized that it was a man. He tugged on the cape of the man, but the man never moved. He then walked to the front of the man and kicked his shin, but the man never responded. The boy shrugged his shoulders and ran back to his sister.
"Maybe he's dead?" suggested the sister as her brother grabbed a rock and pulled out his slingshot.
"If he doesn't move after this we'll go tell dad" replied the brother as he set the rock and pulled it back, he aimed it at the man's head and released the rock. The boy had never seen a rock fly so fast, but as it neared the man he blinked and the rock burst into dust. He looked past the dust cloud and to the man who had pulled out a Katana and smashed the rock with it.
As the man approached them, the sister screamed and ran. But the boy was stopped and given death, the man looked past the boy's bloody body and at the girl that was running away.
"No one will believe her, they will just think that her brother played a joke on her" said the dark ninja as he cleaned his Katana on the dead boy's clothes, he then sheathed it and leapt into the trees.
