The tunnel led him to a room that looked like it was used for human sacrifices. As he stepped into the room, an arrow was shot. Ombra reached for his Katana to cut the arrow in half but he was frozen, his eyes widened as the arrow embed itself into his heart. His eyes glazed over as he fell backward onto the ground; suddenly a very old woman stepped out of the dark world Scuro. The old woman was the same one that had stolen Ombra's soul; she walked over to his dead body and gave it a kick. "Stupid boy, you were worthless" crackled the old woman as she turned and began to walk away. Suddenly an arrow came shooting past the old woman, she whirled around to find Ombra's arm outstretched but it fell to the floor. She sneered as blood began to sink into the rock, "I'll have to get someone to clean that up,” she hissed. She kept her gaze on the dead body as she took a step, she then bumped into something. She looked forward and shrieked, there before her stood Ombra. She whirled around to see the body fade away but the blood remained, she then looked forward to see Ombra. "But how?" she asked as she began to take steps backward. "You mean you don't know?" asked Ombra as a blue-black flame erupted his eyes. "Since you don't know, I'll tell you. I cannot die for I have no soul" replied Ombra as he pulled out a Katana and held the point above his heart. "Just watch,” he added as he plunged the Katana through his heart. As his body fell to the ground, he stepped out of a shadow that made by a torch on a wall. "See, I cannot be killed" said Ombra as the old woman turned toward his voice. "But when?" she asked, as she again started to back away. "Some days ago, I slipped into Scuro for not even a minute but when I came out I was exhausted. But when I went into Scuro to pass your fake door Scuro took no energy from me, and reason why was because when it took the most energy from me it gave me something in return. You could call it immortality but I can die, I just always return with the advantage,” replied Ombra as he pulled out both of his Katanas. The blue-black flame burst from the blades quickly covering them, Ombra shouted as he shot toward the old woman. The old woman shrieked as she disappeared in a puff of smoke, Ombra sliced through the smoke but the old woman was gone. He jerked his head around and sensed that the old woman had not gone into Scuro; he walked to the smoke spot and began to stomp on the ground. Suddenly his foot broke through a wooden trap door; he kicked the door open and dropped into the hole. The light for the blue-black flame that came from his Katanas and eyes lighted the dark tunnel; it was made for a person of short height so he had to lean forward as he walked down the tunnel. He stopped and looked down, on the floor there were footprints but they looked fake, he turned around and began to walk in the opposite direction. He had to stop under the trapdoor for a wall blocked his way, he sheathed the Katanas and placed his hands on the wall and began to push. He felt that the tunnel continued on the other side, but the problem was that he couldn't budge the wall. He stopped, squatted and began to dig to small holes. When he felt that they were deep enough, he set his feet in them and began to push on the wall again. Since neither him nor the wall were going to be moving anytime soon the old woman was making her escape. Suddenly there was a creak and then a groan, a split second later there was an explosion and the wall came swooping in. The sudden movement caught Ombra off guard and he fell forward. But with his strength he was able to stop himself from touching the ground. He picked himself up and walked into the new area of the tunnel, he found that there was once a large log that was holding the wall shut but it now lay in millions of pieces. He made his way down the tunnel to find that he began to hear water, not a roaring waterfall but a soft river. He crouched lower and broke into a run, he came to the river but the old woman was no where to be seen. Ombra stopped running and kneeled down next to the river, he then looked on the bed of the river. He noticed that dirt was settling in certain areas, he stood up and ran through the river. But with his ninja training he made no ripples. On the other side of the river there were wet footprints from a short person, the old woman had come this way. The footprints led down another tunnel but turned into a small crack, Ombra knelt down in front of it. It was too small for him to enter and it stayed that way, he stood up and entered Scuro. Just as he was about to slip into the crack, there was a blur in the corner of his eye. He jerked his head toward it and saw the old woman running away. "You will not escape this time,” he hissed as he pulled out both Katanas, the blue-black flame erupted from the blades again. Then the flame that came from his eyes became long, it now reached the tip of his ears. Strangely the flame never burned him, just everything else, though the flame burned away the cloth that covered his eyes it was the only cloth that he wore that had burned away. He then speed after the old woman who was now running for her life, Ombra leapt off the walls slashing at the air as he neared the old woman. |
