Background from Where the Love Lies Dead |
It was the first week since Rache had been kidnapped, but not by humans but by dragon like creatures called the Kiros. A battle-loving race that went ecstatic when they first laid eyes on the humans; it was their chance to start a new style of battle. A style where they trained the humans like pets and then put them against each other in a death match to see what trainer was better. The wins that the Kiros received by the human, eventually added up in a currency type form. They were able to sell these wins for evolutionary changes, the more changes they had the more fame they would receive. A small band of Kiros' had entered Earth around noon above the United States. They then split up to scour the earth in finding strong humans that would do well in the battles. Rache was in her high school cafeteria when a large Kiros broke through the wall. It had gold tip barbs that ran down its spine and to the tip of its tail. A grass green color was the dominant color; there were splotches of red and blue throughout the body. The Kiros roared as it sent out a legion of golden warriors the size of professional football players to herd the teens close to their master for inspection. Several of the seniors that played football were quickly taken as well as many other guys, yet they had taken no females. This sent a shiver of rage throughout her body. "So we girls aren't good enough to be taken,” she hissed as she swung her backpack around to her front and yanked out a .22 revolver. At the top of the gun was a tapped on laser, she pressed down the button and a beam of red light was brought forth. She easily took out many of the golden warriors since none of their race had every seen anything that fired death. The warriors that were still alive fled past the Kiros; in a streak of confusion the kidnapped males were released. The rest of the children began to scream and run, despite the Kiros's best efforts it alone could not recapture any of the students. Soon it and Rache were the only things in the cafeteria, it said something in its language then attacked. By that time, Rache had reloaded her .22 revolver. She did a duck and roll under the creature before she began to unload lead into it's underbelly. It roared in pain as blood began to spurt from the wounds, several of the bullets had hit an artery. As it spun around, it's front feet buckled and they fell the ground. As it tried to regain it's footing, it came face to face with Rache. With a sneer upon her face, and her one gray eye and one brown eye flashed as she jabbed the .22 into the Kiros's nostril and unload what was left of her bullets into the creature's brain. As the bullets entered its brain it sent out a distress signal for the rest of the Kiros's to help them. Rache checked and checked again to make sure that the creature was dead, and not playing a trick. She then reloaded the revolver just in case, her watch suddenly beeped. The half-day of school was over; she was free to leave. As she entered the parking lot, the rest of the Kiros that had arrived on Earth quickly surrounded her. One ran off to the death place of the first Kiros and uttered a snarl of rage, they returned and in their strange language told them of the dead Kiros. Rache took this time to hide under one of the cars, and waited. By the sound of their voices they had just noticed that she was gone, she heard their giant feet over turning cars or running in search of her. Suddenly the car above her was lifted up, she rolled onto her back and held the revolver out ready to die fighting. The Kiros tossed the car away, this Kiros was nothing but black with the exception of a red face. At every noticeable joint a spike erupted from the scales, it knocked her gun away and with their claw pinned her to the ground. It uttered a cry and the fellow Kiros's returned. They looked as if they were fighting over her, each shouting things in their language. But soon the Kiros that pinned her seemed to be the victor; it grabbed her off the ground. They then removed a hollow scale in the left shoulder to reveal a hole; he slid Rache in and replaced the scale. They uttered a single word and if felt as it they were lifting off the ground. What felt like a few seconds to Rache, was actually days. The Kiros had left Earth and were returning to their world Gilana. The Kiros that had Rache in a hollow scale was Redseer, her future master. Redseer was particularly chosen to raid Earth because of his talent, he had the power to see into creatures and be able to tell how bloodthirsty they are. When he had slammed his claw down on the girl, he saw into the girl. He had received his first vision. He was standing in the Prime Arena where they would make the humans fight, but there was no one in the stands. He felt something sticky at his claws, he looked down and he was in a large pool of blood. He jerked his head around and there lie an endless field of dead Kiros's. He heard a cry and looked up, at the throne of the king Kiros there sat the girl. She was older and had begun the change, at her feet whimpered the king. She removed his crown and placed it atop her horned head, she brought out something from her and pointed it at the king. Using her taloned hand she grabbed the king by the neck and held him over the balcony, her mouth moved as the strange object made a large boom. A hole appeared between the king’s eyes and the back of his head exploded. At this Redseer awoke from his vision. This girl would end the race of the Kiros if he did not do something, the girl would be able to fight. Redseer just hoped that this was not the future that he had witnessed. |
