Background from Where the Love Lies Dead |
Rache suddenly felt a sense of awareness, she opened her left eye just barely enough to see through. The room that she was in looked to be a recovery room, she then shut her eye for she sensed another presence near. "Human, I know that the poison has lost its effect and that you are awake" said a voice to her right. "You speak English?" asked Rache as she sat up and opened her eyes. "No, I am not speaking a new language; you are. Once a creature steps foot on our lands it is only a matter of time before they are able to speak Kar" answered the voice. This time Rache turned her body to see the red-faced black-bodied creature that had captured her. But there was a vast difference between the two, the first one was around sixty feet; this one was fifteen feet. Rache snarled as she threw off the sheet and reached at her boot, only to find her .22 revolver missing and the bullets as well. "Looking for this" taunted the creature as he pointed the handle at Rache thinking it was where the bullets shot out of. They then put pressure on the trigger, Rache then cried out and yanked the gun upward. It fired at the ceiling and not into the face of the creature. "Dumb ass" hissed Rache as she yanked the .22 out of its claws and back into her boot with the saftey on. "How is it that you can booby trap an object without being conscious?" hissed the creature as it circled her bed. "Same way you can be so dumb as to hold a gun toward you instead of pointed at the thing that you want to die" snapped Rache as her gaze followed the creature. "This is getting no where, I suggest that we ask each other a question in turns" said the creature as Rache nodded in agreement. "I shall go first. What is your name?" asked the Kiros. "Rache is my name, rache is my love" answered Rache with a sneer. "What is your name?" "Redseer, heir to the throne of Savest. I am one of the highest Kiros's with evolutions." "What is this evolution?" "It is where we better ourselves through the power of evolving" replied Redseer as the two shot back and forth questions and answer about themselves and their worlds. Soon the time came where Redseer had to tell Rache why she was taken and what she will be used for. Instead of rejecting the fate that he chose for her she accepted it and asked when her training would begin. The day past and a new dawn arose, Redseer returned to his normal size and took Rache to her first test to see if she should even be trained; it was a test of intelligence and strength. The test was to make a large arena filled with boulders, logs, and water fight able in. "So as I was saying, you must get rid of all the things here and make the arena fight able" said Redseer as he reached up and picked Rache up from his shoulder and set her upon the ground. "Ok, I'll get this clean. But first you must leave" replied Rache as Redseer snorted and turned, he flared open his wings before he launched into the air and left the area. He returned a day later to find all the logs, water and boulders still there. "What, I leave you here for a day and you do nothing" hissed Redseer when suddenly he felt a vision arising but he quickly forced it away. "No I did exactly what you said. I cleaned it" she started as she pointed toward the large pile of broken sticks and other item that dirtied the water which now shone a clear blue. "Then you said make it fight worthy, meaning make it so that a person can fight in it. Which I did, and I challenge you to a fight to show you how it works" added Rache as she stood up with two large bamboo like sticks. "Where did you find those?" asked Redseer as he shifted into his fifteen foot size, he then grabbed one of the sticks. "They were at the bottom, now go to where you see the ledge above the water. That's where we start, and the only way to win the match is to get your opponent to touch the water" said Rache as the two made their way to the ledges to begin the match. Rache uttered a low whistle before the two raised their staffs and bounded off the ledges, the two charge toward each other leaping onto boulders and logs that surfaced from the water. Redseer snarled as he snapped he staff in half and hurled the pieces at Rache. She grunted as she dodged the pieces and tossed her staff into the air and held it like a javelin before she snapped her arm forward and sent it speeding through the air creating a howl. Redseer sneered as he crossed his arms and braced himself for the blow of the staff, but it never came. He suddenly heard a splash of water and looked down, the human's aim was the worst he had seen. Just then, there was a shatter of wood and a crack of stone. The boulder that Redseer was standing on instantly shattered sending him splashing into the water. "I win" hissed Rache. "Rache is my name, rache is my love". "You've said that before, what does is mean?" asked Redseer as he hoisted his body out of the water and onto a floating log. "Rache means revenge" answered the human with a purr like tone in her voice. Redseer gasped at this, and forgot his hold on the log. As he sank he thought of all the myths that he had learned of a creature that's sole purpose was revenge. "It's not possible that she can be in our past, yet be here in the present" thought Redseer as he touched the bottom of the lake arena. |
