October 6, 2004 Hello! |
October 3, 2004 Hello! Well, I've been at the bank for just over 2 months now. Things are going well. I'm getting into a groove. I'm pretty comfortable with the computer software and procedures now. Everyone there is very supportive of each other, and that's great to see. I won't stay at the bank forever though. I have other things I want to do. My website for Angel Kiss Designs is almost up. The site is designed and put together. Now I just need to decide on a host for my site. I'll let you know when the site is up and running. Aaron and I are enjoying the new place. Halloween is approaching and it will be my first time going out to buy candy! You don't get anyone coming to your door when you live in an apartment. At least I never did. I'm hoping Aaron will carve a pumpkin this year. He did one 2 years ago and it was really good! If I haven't heard from you in a while, email me and let me know how you're doing. All for now! |

July 30, 2004 Hello! Almost all of my stuff is at the new place. My fridge/freezer food and some other odds and ends are still at my old apartment. I have to go back and clean tomorrow anyways. Aaron and his brother moved all of the packed stuff into the U-Haul at suppertime. The plan was for Aaron to call the landlady and do the inspection report without me (I worked 12pm-8pm), get the keys, move my stuff in, and then take the truck back if the U-Haul place was still open. Things didn't go according to plan. I was supposed to call Aaron and the landlady when I was off at 8 to see what was happening, but I grabbed a bus to the apt and then called Aaron. By this time it was 9:15. I was over an hour late calling him and also the landlady. I called her after Aaron and left a message to meet us at the duplex at 10pm. I apologized to her for us being so late. She was understanding. We did the inspection, got the keys and moved my stuff in. It took us about 45 minutes to 1 hour. I put a sheet up in the living room window to act as a curtain, and then we left. Aaron was not happy with me tonight. I don't blame him. It was my responsibility to make 1 phone call, possibly 2, and I messed up. We're cool now though. The new job is going alright. I worked with the computer system doing transactions with the guidance of a mentor. I'm catching on. The customer service manager said that she expects me to be working on my own by next Saturday. I have tomorrow and then I believe 4 days next week left in my training. At this point, I think she's right. I think I'll be well on my way by Saturday. I'm catching on relatively quickly. It is currently 12:40am and I have to work at 8am, so I'm going to sign off. Take care!! |
July 26, 2004 Hello! Aaron and I just signed lease agreements for a 1/2 duplex in the east end of the city. It is actually on the street where I grew up. With my new job being in the Victoria Square Mall, I can just walk to work and be there in 5 minutes! As you can tell I'm very excited about everything that is happening right now! One downside, however, is that my family reunion is this coming weekend, and now that we have the new place, we'll be moving in this weekend, so we will be unable to go to the reunion. Speaking of the new job, I had my first day at the bank today. I read a manual for 4 hours, and then I got to stand behind the counter and watch some transactions. It's going to take some practice but I think I'll be okay there. All for now! |
July 18, 2004 I am very happy to report that I accepted a position at the TD Canada Trust Bank in the Victoria Square Mall on Friday. I handed in my notice to my district manager at Quarks today. My last day with them will be Saturday, July 24. The bank wants me to go in sometime this week to do all the paperwork and I start training on Monday, July 26. She phoned to offer me the job just an hour and a half after the interview had finished. At $10.85/hr, I just couldn't turn it down. I do two weeks of training and then I'm put onto the schedule. She said it starts full-time and then your schedule depends on performance. If you do well, you are rewarded with more hours, rather than the standard senority scheduling where the senior staff gets the most hours and then the rest of the hours trickle down through the heirarchy with the newest staff members receiving very little. I am taking everything in stride. I feel that this opportunity came my way for a reason and that it will lead to great things in the future. All for now! |
July 12, 2004 I am still waiting to hear back about the manager position at work. I applied for it, and our current manager's last day is July 17, this Saturday. I am not getting my hopes up, but I could use the pay increase, and it looks good on a resume. Our 3-month performance reviews still haven't been done and we are approaching the 4 1/2 month mark. I'm a little bitter about that since not only am I waiting for a wage increase but also my promotion to Assistant Manager. As you can tell, I'm not exactly enthusiastic about my current job, so I am applying for other jobs. I am mainly looking at office jobs such as receptionist, secretary, and accounting clerk. I don't have any experience in an office, but I have a lot of knowledge. I just need someone to give me a chance. My ultimate goal is to have my own store. My jewelry and artwork would be a part of it as well as other artwork, giftware, home decor, and other miscellaneous items that I decide to sell. I would love to have it open next spring, or sooner if I can manage it. We'll see what happens. All for now! |
July 7, 2004 Aaron and I have decided to move in together. We are on the hunt for a house to rent. He originally wanted to buy a house, but that is put on hold for now. I'll be putting new photos up in the next few days. I have a couple from when Haley and I were at the Canadian Idol auditions. I'll also be putting some picks up of my jewelry creations thus far. So check back soon! |
June 7, 2004 I'm working full-time at Quarks in the Southland Mall still. I had interviews with both Suzy Shier and Transit for Third Keyholder positions this past week. I won't be taking the Suzy job if they offer it to me. Transit I may take, but if I stay at Quarks I will most likely get moved up to Assistant Manager right away and our manager is leaving us this summer as her fiance is getting transferred out of province, so I may be eligible for her position in a month or two. Tough decision. Transit offers a better wage, better commission and they are a busier store as they have trendier shoes and are geared towards teens and young adults. Quarks is geared more towards 20-somethings and up. They have mainly comfort shoes. I really enjoy working with adults. They are respectful almost all of the time, they enjoy chatting, and are generally pleasant to work with. This generation of teens isn't quite like that. So it becomes a battle of money versus enjoyment. We'll see what happens tomorrow. |
April 14, 2004 Hi! Well, I just had to try out for Canadian Idol when they came here to Regina today. My friend, Haley, and I arrived at the Delta at about 10:45pm last night. Auditions started at 9am right after registration. The good old family nerves had a tight grip on me and I ended up forgetting the words to my songs, not once, not twice, but three times during my audition. Needless to say I didn't end up with the coveted pink sheet to move onto the 2nd round of auditions. After the 2nd round of auditions is done and you make it through them with your green sheet, then you audition for the celebrity judges, which is what you see on the actual show. Canada AM woke us up at 4am to do some segments. Those darn people in Ontario! Just kidding. If I do end up in shots, I'll probably be a dot in the background somewhere or walking past a crew camera that was focused on someone else. I'll post photos as soon as I get them developed!! Final exams are fast approaching! EEKS! I better get studying!! All for now! |
March 8, 2004 Aaron's still working full-time at the computer shop. He's trying to save money for a down payment on a small house. We've been together for almost 2 years. Hard to believe it's been that long, but as the saying goes, time flies when you're having fun. I will be applying for the Cathedral Arts Festival Street Fair. I want to feature my jewelry, and I also have started doing chinese character paintings. Other than that nothing new with Angel Kiss Designs. All for now. Take care! |
February 8, 2004 Happy New Year!! My fall semester went alright. My final grades were as follows: ADMN285 74%, ECON202 45%, CS270 81%. I had a horrible professor for the macroeconomics class, which was the main reason I failed it. He didn't get through all of the material because he went on parental leave which shortened the course by three 1h15m lectures, and he only read from his lecture notes. He did nothing to get the class motivated to learn or to make this boring subject anymore interesting. In fact, he made it more unbearable by speaking in a quiet monotonous voice. Unfortunately, this is a required credit for my program, so I must take it again. Maybe this time I'll get a prof who makes the class interesting. As for my other two classes, I was pleased with my marks. I could have tried a bit harder in ADMN285, which was the accounting class, but I am not unhappy with the final grade. I kicked ass all semester in CS270, which was systems analysis and design. I am very pleased with that grade. I was so incredibly busy this holiday season that I didn't get my cards sent out on time. Those of you on my list will be receiving them within the next few days as I will be mailing them tomorrow. I got all the gifts that I wanted: new winter coat from my family; awesome cordless phone from Aaron (he went over our agreed price range, but I'm not complaining); fleece jacket, ear muffs, and scarf from John (Aaron's older sister's hubby, he got my name for the family draw); candles and candle holders from friends; for the gift exchange game with Aaron's family I got an at home spa kit for my feet and hands; gift exchange game with Twisted Goods I got a bottle of Arbor Mist; and secret santa at Winners I got a small bath gift basket and chocolates. I'm still working on getting my business going. Angel Kiss Designs actually has a very small inventory right now, which I am pleased about. I'm hoping to have my jewelry in a couple of craft sales this year, as well, I want to get a web site set up. I am trying to get this business off the ground with my own money, so I am working 2 part-time jobs right now and trying to take classes. I have been looking for full-time work, but the jobs I want require work experience or full eduction and I don't have either of those right now. I'm struggling, but I have a feeling everything will work out in the end. I think I've babbled long enough. Take care! |
October 20, 2003 Amy and Devin got married on August 23. It was a beautiful ceremony and reception. Amy is supposed to be getting duplicates of the photos from the ceremony and reception/dance for me, as well as the photos we got done in the park. When I get them from her, I'll post some of them on the site. I'm going to be dying my hair red again. That nice, bright orange from summer 2002. Yay! That's all for now. Enjoy life!! |

June 23, 2003 On this same note, I want to send my wishes to my cousin Albert who suffered a heart attack about a week ago. I hear he is doing better now, which is good to hear. Hope you get well soon, Al! I started making gemstone jewelry this month. I buy the gemstones already cut, and I buy the settings already cast and seat cut, ready for the gemstones. I would like to eventually learn how to do it all myself, but for now this will do. I don't have any pictures of the jewelry, just one of an earring. All settings are sterling silver, as are the chains I buy for the pendants. I can get almost any gemstone in almost any size and shape. My manager at the small shop I work at said I should show the owner of the store my jewelry and see if she wants to carry it in the store. She has the location here in Regina and she also has a store in Saskatoon. She'll be in town this Thursday, June 26, so I'm going to show her my stuff and hope she's interested enough to at least give it a shot. I do have to be prepared for a "no" as well, so I don't want to get my hopes up too much. Email me if you are interested in finding out more about my jewelry. I will try to get more pictures of it up on my site. I start my 2 summer classes, Economics 100 and Statistics 151, next week. I still have to get my textbooks! I'm still hanging on to both jobs. Now I'm considering working a couple shifts per week at each job this fall. I like both and can't choose between them! We'll see how 5 classes and 2 part-time jobs works. I may be forced to quit one job, even though I don't want to. All for now. Take care!! |
June 8, 2003 Hi! Not too much news right now. I start my 2 other summer classes on July 2nd. My sister, Amy, has now moved into her new home with her fiance. I'm still working both jobs, though I will be dropping one at the end of the summer as I will have a full load of 5 classes plus labs this fall. As you can tell in the new picture, my hair has faded so much that it's almost back to my natural color. Amy will be happy about that. She didn't want me to dye my hair BRIGHT red for her wedding. HMPH! Spoiling all my fun! (just kidding) :-P That's all for now. Enjoy life! |
May 6, 2003 Well, I dropped Math 110. I was completely lost on the first day. I don't have Grade 12 Geo-Trig, just Grade 10 Geo-Trig. I did well, but absolutely hated the class so I chose not to continue, and now part of me wishes I had. There is another Math class I can take for the same credit though, so I'll give that a go sometime this coming school year. I still have the other 2 classes slated for July-August. I absolutely need those 2 classes if I want to be in the running for a spot in the Administration Diploma program this fall. I want the Degree program, but I need that darn math credit in addition to econ 100 and stat 151. Once I have the math credit I can transfer, so no big deal. All for now! |
May 4, 2003 Hello! I start my first summer class tomorrow, Math 110. I'm very excited to be going back to school. I thought what better way to celebrate than give myself a new look. As you can see in the photo to the left, I'm not really afraid to dye my hair any colour and I particularly liked the cut that my stylist gave me last time so I had her give me a trim to liven it up. The new 'do makes me feel like a rock star! *laugh* It was bright outside the day Aaron took the picture so I'm squinting a little. That darn sun! I can't complain about the weather though. The winter was too long, as usual. There are more new photos of me on my photos page, so please take a peek. All for now! Enjoy life! |
April 28, 2003 Hello! It's April 28th and life is great! I start classes May 5th, and I'm really excited about that. I will be taking Math 110 May 5-June 18, and then July 2-August 14 I will be taking Statistics 151 and Economics 100. Hopefully I'll kick some butt this summer and be accepted into the Bachelor of Administration program this fall. I'll also be working all summer when I'm not in class. I'm going to try to balance both my jobs and school for the summer, and I'll have to drop one job come fall. Amy and Devin's wedding is less than 4 months away! Very exciting! Aaron and I are hoping to get some camping in this summer, too, so I've got lots happening in the next few months. All for now! Take care! |
