Winners Report:

As per our yearly golf weekend ritual we all assembled bright eyed and bushy tailed (bar Big Wessa who got lost and lived nearer!) at 8.30am for our hearty Tesco breakfast in Maccesfield.

The theme tune for the coming weekend 'Ring of Fire' by Johnny Cash was dropped out after breakfast by Baby Wessa which would follow us wherever we were throughout the weekend !!

Another ring tone that was used with some great amusement was the 'Electric Shaver' which was first aired when I 'shaved' in the mirror of the restaurant much to the aghast of some of the elderly diners !

We arrived in good time at Mottram Hall with the threat of rain downpours according to the dark clouds. First impression of the hotel complex and the golf course was very good and we were all warmly welcomed.

I was in the first group to tee off and was out to try and beat the Bandito Scott – where I proceeded to par the first hole (feeling good with myself!) whereby Scott duly chips in for a birdie 4 and won the hole !!! Scott continued is good form and went on to beat me 2&1 although I had a steady round.

Overall initial impressions of the course was that it was in very good condition however the greens were below what I/we expected – still it was the same for everyone !

After drinks in the 19th we duly went our separate ways for power naps, swimming, sundowners (gin and tonics) or for two individuals casual sex!

What goes on tour stays on tour so I will not reveal who the two individuals were, only to say that when I came back from having a leisurely swim in the hotel's pool I approached my room and good hear ooohh's and arrrgghh' and 'oh you are so big' coming from my room … I immediately opened the door to find with shock and horror the below. All I can say is that a picture tells a thousand words .. .. lets just leave it at that !!

Friday night dinner was in the main dining area where the 'chicken napkin' made its regular appearance together with the 'oasis' soup (get a roll with it!) and new to the table was the 'shaver' ring tone which was not too well received by other diners!

A few drinks followed in to the early hours of the morning leaving everyone bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning for the second round of the weekend.

Again the forecast for Saturday was rain followed by showers with the possibility of more rain to follow needless to say quite a few took up the electric buggy option which included me! Needless to say the heavy rain did appear now and again but this did not dampen our spirits . . . I had another steady knock, together with Andy, where we both scored 45 stapleford points.

Saturday nights dinner we were relegated to the club house for our (perhaps they did not appreciate our napkin chicken etc! Anyway everyone was starving and looking forward to their food but once again we were struck with the leather beef and veg – most people managed to get through it however I had by customary whinge to the establishment and got another meal. Still no better …however it pays to moan and we got £120 compensation from the hotel for our troubles.

This followed with a split party.. .. the young uns stayed at the hotel and played cards and the old uns went in to Alderley Edge to see how the other half live.

Once again Sunday's forecast was for a change rain .. .. and again electric buggies were a blessing. The biggest shock of the morning was seeing Darrel turn up in his yellow golf attire …yes yellow pants, socks, and top …needless to say the canary impressions were flying all over the place and as Baby Wessa pointed out the clothes matched his teeth … .. a gem !!!

Well once again I had a super round where it was one of those days when everything goes right for you …it must have been because I even won the longest drive which is a first ever for me and nearest the pin!

Another great weekend which came and went ….  And roll on 2008 !
