With a love for all varieties of music since early childhood, in particular the pioneering sounds of Jean Michel Jarre and Propaganda, BB began clubbing in 1990 at the age of 17 and was quick to pick up the art of mixing in March '92. He kickstarted his club career in '93 at the legendary mid-week Brisbane club "Roundabout", while on the rave front he unexpectedly began at massive Queensland events such as the Adrenalin Dance Carnivals, Strawberry Fields, Creation and NASA parties shortly after completing his film and media degree. Residencies at The Dawning, The Basement, House Arrest, The Realm and Raving Mad soon followed in 94/95.
His eclectic blend of sounds, ranging from house to uplifting trance and concrete funky tech beats, demonstrates a versatility that has put him in a position to support just about every dance act and DJ venturing onto Australian shores, gaining him equal demand in both the rave and club scenes. Barkin' Boy's crowd pleasing reputation has seen him regularly associated with tours such as Gatecrasher, Cream, UnLtd, Ministry of Sound, Two Tribes, Adventjah, Republica, Summafielddayze and he hasn't just supported the world's finest, for the past 10 years he's been consistently selected to play alongside the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Seb Fontaine, Paul VanDyk, Carl Cox, The Prodigy, Deep Dish, Sasha, Basement Jaxx, Tiesto, Westbam, Timo Maas, Satoshi Tomie, Lenny Fontana, Deep Swing, Ian Pooley, Baby Doc & SJ, Oliver Lieb, Sister Bliss, CJ Bolland, Mauro Picotto, Ultrasonic, Bomfunk MCs, Sash, Agnelli & Nelson.....and the list simply goes on & on.
Barkin' Boy has enjoyed great national coverage through his co-produced "Volume 3" mixed CD, his dj gigs around the nation, his work for Substance Magazine, his weekly Brisbane Dance Program on Sydney's Radio DexFM and his success in the 1999 Clubbers Choice Awards. He's also appeared several times on Channel V's "CLUB V" most recently featuring alongside Moby, Primal Scream and Roger Sanchez.
Apart from co-ordinating the successful "House Arrest" and "Addictive" nights in the mid-nineties, he was also a catalyst in the success of the prestigious "Rewind" events, which explored the early days of dance/techno '88-'92, and he became known as "King of the closing set" after his 5 year residency at arguably Brisbane's most influential dance club ever, The Tube Niteclub from 1995-99. It was with the team at The Tube where he built up a mighty following residing at nights like Cheeky, S.L.A.M, Addictive, Hardrive, Rewind, Kinetic and Testament.
He then moved onto stints with Fever and Viva Nightclubs and Unusual Suspects & Supersonic @ The Orient, before going on to be leading resident at TechnomadDiscotech and The Matrix throughout 2000/01, where he released the energetic live club CD "Thursday" and the driving techy-edged "SS-BASS". He then took over the reigns at The Family in 01/02 where he became an integral force in bringing the masses into the venue, before residing at R-Bar whilst spinning across East-coast Australia and releasing the uplifting techtrance 'Delta Sunflight' mixed CD.
Departing from Australia in March '03 with residencies at 'Four to the Floor', 'Quest', and 'Fridays' throughout Queensland, Barkin' Boy is now touring across Canada and the USA, followed by Europe, Russia and Japan later in the year before returning to Australia.
