MY FIRST DAY EVER DOWN THE TRACK

Well, Guys I finally Ran my 86 Svo at the track.  But Before I tell you what it run I'll tell you what my brother
Made it run.  This was right after I got my car 2 years ago.  It was Bone Stock & had 225,000 plus miles on it. After about 5 passes my brother I guess found the sweet spot.  It ran a 15.84 @ 85 mph    1/8 mile was 10.13 @ 68. mph.
Now that that said I'll tell you about my day.  Since my brother ran that time and I have a few Mods to the car ( 3' Exhaust, K&N cone, boost at 18-19psi, T-bird Trans) I was shooting for that time  I had $10.oo
Bet that I could run it.  Alittle more background.  I go to many races but have never run down the 1/4 mile,
I drive my car all the time and have red-light race tones of time.  So I think I know how to drive my car.
So on the  way up to the strip (me & my Brother) i notice that accelerating from the toll booth the clutch would show alittle slip. so i stopped at the next plaza and tune the clutch (open the hood and turn the fire wall adjuster--  got to love that thing)  Well that seem to clear it up some. but then i had everything still in the car. ( tire, speaker box & my brother's fat ass.)
When we got to the track we tech in. let it cool and figure out how I was going to launch the car.  By-the-way This was your typical Florida day.  Had to have been 90+ degrees and 100 humidity) Well my brother said to do an alittle clean off on the tires. And then launch at 2000rpm.  Also said that as soon as the last amber light flash on to go.
Well, like I said it was my first time at the track I did just what my brother said.  I pull up to the light tacked it up to 2000 and then locked on to that last amber light as soon as I came on I left, No tire spin at all.
I shifted at 6000 1-2-3 and held 3rd through the traps at about 6600rpms.
Well, for my very first run I. Cut a .591 light ran 1/8mile of 11.03@70 mph. and the 1/4 Mile 16.60 @86 mph Not bad for the first run ever in my car and a car with a slipping clutch. And 270,000 miles
I ran back to back run 1/8mile was 10.86@69 and the 1/4 mile was 16.44@87mph  but this time I left at 3500 and my 60ft was 2.855 yikes. My 1000 foot time was 13.88 but that can't be that bad it was faster in mph and ET.
Well, now here is the bad news I let my brother run it (while I ran his low-12 second mustang)
Well let just say I got really pisted-off.  I glad that it was in my car but I hate that he did it.
It ran a 1/8 Mile of 10.03@69mph   and 1/4 mile of 15.64@86mph
God that made me so mad.  Never put someone that know what there doing in your car unless you want to get mad.
Well, after this my goal was shoot to hell because I was shooting to beat my brother not learn the car.
While we where there I picked up a T-bird intercooler.  So I thought to myself this is the way I'll beat him.
I put it on but after I put it on a found a threaded hold in it.  But the only think I could fine to fit it was a drag rim style valve stem. It screwed right in. so off I was I drove it around the parking lot to see if it felt go well I felt mighty awesome a lot stronger.  I pulled in the lanes tacked it up to 4000 light when green, the car left hard but very violent wheel hope.  The 60ft when by in 2.500 SEC  1/8 mile in 10.40@69.mph   1000 foot when by in 13.52   then I'd say at the 1100 foot mark that dam valve stem open up.  And I let off coasting through the traps at 16.54@ 70mph.  Now I was so mad the heat was starting to get to me badly.
I took it back over and put my old IC back on. But somewhere I lost the socket the tighten the clamps.
So I had to sit there with and adjustable wrench. And tighten them. well I was about to put the brackets on and then they called my class. So the brackets didn't go on.
Well, If anyone know what's about to happen done tell anyone.  Pulled into the lane with my brain set on kill trying for the best on my last run. Brought the revs up to 3800 left with a  .627 light, 60ft was 2.617 still somewhat violent, 1/8mile in 10.61@68mph 1000ft was 13.77 then I heard a big bang followed by a loud hiss.
When I hit the return road the car was in a coast. Not running.  I tried firing it but it stalled.  I haven't even made it to get my time slip. So I floored the gas and then it fired up with the turn of the key. It was running really bad but I wanted that time slip after that I pull over and read it.16.80@68mph.
My brother was walking up the road to see what happen.  I opened up the hood and seen right away what it was. The last hose that I though was tight was but not enough because that hose wasn't sitting around the turbo outlet but on top of it, It blew it right off.  I guess if I would have put the brackets on this might have be a good run. I put the hose back on and the IC Brackets and drove it home with no problems.
Talk about a bad first time racing.  Then Only good thing is my .591 light on my very first run ever.
