Scene1

Setting: the subway. The train going southbound passes while Mario and Ariel pace back and forth waiting for the northbound train to come. Other people as well are waiting for the train to come while some are sitting on benches. Other people go to look at the subway map to see where they are going. All of a sudden you hear the sound of the train coming.

Mario: (facing Ariel) Well here comes the train lets get ready to go on.

Ariel: All right lets go!

(The train comes and Mario and Ariel enter into the crowded train)

Mario: Damn this train is crowded, now where are we going?

Ariel: To subway junction in Manhattan remember?

Mario: (laughs) Oh yeah.

Ariel: Remember we are going to grab a taxi and go to the club on 36th and 104th Ave.

Mario: I remember don't worry; I am not that stupid.

Ariel: You got the fake ID saying that you are 17 right? Because I got mine

Mario: Yeah I got mine. (Takes the ID out of his pocket and show it to Ariel)

Ariel: Good then we is all set. But remember subway junction is our stop, should be about 15 stops till we get there.

Mario: Ok

(While waiting for the train to get to subway junction Mario and Ariel finally get seat and doze off for a while when they are suddenly woken up by a MTA officer)

MTA officer: Hey you two get up (rocks them to get up)

(Mario and Ariel get up and wonder where they are and see the MTA officer)

Mario: Hi sir can we help you?

MTA officer: (facing both of them) you two are on the last stop of this train and must get off now because the southbound and northbound tracks are going to be fixed.

Ariel: (realizing) Oh man we fell asleep and went to the last stop and I have never been to this part of Manhattan before.

Mario: Yeah me neither lets get out of here and figure out what to do.

(They leave the station and are on a street with bums and a lot of trash around)

Mario: (worried) Ok what do we do now? Our parents aren't even home and we are lost in some part of Manhattan.

Ariel: Damn man stops getting on my case I mean I'm not a psychic or anything I don't come up with answers through my hat.

Mario: Ok man it isn't your fault why we are here it was just an accident why we are here.

Ariel: Lets just calm down and figure out how we will get home.

Mario: (Breathing heavily) Ok man.

(They sit down on a curb and try to figure out how to get home, when all of a sudden a group of people come up to them and tell them to give them all their money and anything else they got on them.)

Group: Hey gives us what we want or we will kill you.

Mario: Man, we got nothing except a used metro card and our keys to our house.

Ariel: (agrees and worried) Yeah, we got nothing except what he said.

Group: Ok then give us the keys and the metro card then.

Mario: yeah right you can't have anything of ours (he pulls out a switchblade and starts to wave it in the group's face)

Group: Ok we don't want any trouble we will leave you alone.

(They leave and Ariel and Mario go to find a place to spend the night)

Mario: Maybe if we go and walk around we can find a nice person that can locate us to a hotel or something.

Ariel: Yeah because I am not going to spend the night in cardboard box or anything likes that.

(Mario and Ariel go and find a person that is walking down the street, they tell him their story of how they need to find a place to stay)

Man: So you are looking for a hotel to stay in for the night, am I correct?

Mario & Ariel: Yeah do you know of any?

Man: Yeah go and take a taxi to co bound square and walk up two blocks its right in front of the tan building and is called the " The Castle Inn" that is a hotel, charges $6.00 a night per person.

Mario & Ariel: Ok thanks!

(They are walking down a deserted block to find a cab to take them to the hotel)

Mario: Hope we get to a cab soon because it's getting late and we need to get some sleep so we can go and find a way home tomorrow.

Ariel: yeah it's already 11:30 and I am really tired from today's adventure (laughs).

Mario: (Yawns then laughs) Yeah.

(Walking they see a yellow cab and go to hail it)

Ariel: Hey waits!

(The cab stops and they go in)

Cab driver: Where to gentlemen?

Mario: We need to get to co bound square, sir.

Cab driver: Ok then here we go.

(After 15 min. Of driving they reach co bound square)

Cab driver: Here we are.

Ariel: What do we owe you?

Cab driver: Forget it, I want to get home too.

Mario: Thanks a lot sir.

(Mario and Ariel start to walk the two blocks to the "Castle Inn")

Mario: (joyful voice) Look there it is.

(They walk in to the hotel and go to the front counter)

Scene2

Setting: In hotel, Ariel and Mario go to the counter and ring the bell and a man appears, they ask for a room and pay the $12.00 for both of them to stay the night. They then go towards the stairs and while going up them they look for the room that has the number 546 on it.

Mario: Well here we are.

Ariel: yeah but we ran into a problem, when we were paying the man at the counter I noticed that we have only $5.00 left and I don't know what good that will do us.

Mario: Well we will have to make do with what we have. With that much money we have to find a way that we can get home with $5.00 and that will be harder for us to think about.

Ariel: Yeah, but we should get some sleep now.

(They go to sleep and wake the next morning at 11:15AM)

Mario: (waking up taking a peek at the clock) Oh Man it's 11:15 Wake up Ariel, wake up. (Starts to shake Ariel)

Ariel: (Waking up) HUH?

Mario: Man its 11:16 get up we have to go.

Ariel: OK, OK I'm getting up.

(They get up and get dressed and take a shower quick and get ready to leave)

Ariel: All ready to go?

Mario: Yeah I got everything I need let's go.

(They go down the stairs to leave the hotel when they see police at the door-searching people)

Mario: Oh mans what now?

Ariel: I don't know.

(They get to the door and a cop on each side asks Ariel to go to one side and Mario to go to another)

Cop1: So you're name is Ariel right?

Ariel: Yeah.

Cop1: Ok I'm just going to do a real quick search on your body.

(He searches and finds nothing)

Ariel: What's this for anyway?

Cop1: Weapon check.

Ariel: (Thinking: Oh man Mario has the switchblade in his pocket hmmm how will I get it so we don't go down to the precinct)?

Cop2: Ok, Mario I have to search you for any weapons standard procedure here.

Mario: OK go-ahead sir.

(All of a sudden Ariel goes to Mario and says let me get the cigarettes out of your pocket, The cop allows him and Ariel goes in the pocket, puts the knife in the cigarette box and takes it out)

Cop2: Ok you check out.

(They leave and go out of the hotel and take a walk to the park up the block)

Mario: Let's just stay here for a while and hang out have a little fun.

Ariel: Ok that will be cool.

Ariel: Hey Mario, Let's go and play basketball with those kids over there.

Mario: Ok let's go.

(They go and ask the kids if they can play, they split into teams and play for about 2-3 hours)

Mario: WOW! That was good game I haven't played that in a while.

Ariel: (Sweating, facing Mario) yeah had a lot of fun.

(They leave the park and go and see a bus depot they walk in there)

Mario: Hey there is a sign lets see if any of the buses pass through our houses.

Ariel: Ok that's a good idea.

(They look at the map and see that only one bus passes and is only $2.00 a person)

Ariel: Let's go take that one.

Mario: Ok let's go to the counter.

(They go to the counter and ask the woman about the bus)

Mario: (Facing the woman) Hi can we get two tickets to bus #46?

Woman: Ok hold on one second please.

Woman: I'm sorry but that bus is currently out of order would you like another?

Mario: No, thank you.

Mario: (facing Ariel and angry) Damn, Lets go (They leave and go back on the street)

Scene3

Setting: Walking on the street in Manhattan. Ariel and Mario are wondering how to get home with the $5.00 that they have left.

Ariel: Damn man, with that bus not running we have no way of getting home.

Mario: (Shouts at Ariel) you're wrong, you make like we are in a different state or something, were only across the Hudson, a borough away!

Ariel: Yeah but...

Mario: (interrupts) But nothing don't worry we aren't in a bad situation we only need to find a way to go home. With $5.00 we cant even get a cab to go home because they charge at least $8.00 a person.

Ariel: yeah and who knows when the train is going to be fixed.

Mario: You know that the repair on the trains will take at least a couple of months.

Ariel: Yeah you're right.

Mario: Well let's get walking again we aren't going to do any good standing around here.

Ariel: Yeah.

(Ariel and Mario come up to a bench in front of a museum and they decide to sit down and rest a while)

Ariel: So when are you're parents coming back from their trip to the Bahamas?

Mario: I think in two or three days, what about your parents when are they coming back from their business trip?

Ariel: I think the same amount of time; the only good thing is that my sisters home so if anyone calls she will answer the phone.

Mario: You mean she doesn't care where you are?

Ariel: Not really, she has her life I have mine.

Mario: Well I hope no one important called at home.

Ariel: (small chuckle) Yeah if anyone did then you are in for some trouble.

Mario: (Laughs) Yeah.

Ariel: Well we shouldn't worry about any of that right now we got bigger problems to deal with.

Mario: Yeah that's true.

(They get off of the bench and start to walk again)

(Walking down the street)

Mario: I can't believe that all we wanted to do is go to a club and we run into this problem.

Ariel: Yeah if we knew more about Manhattan's streets and stuff, we wouldn't be in this predicament.

Mario: Yeah it justs had to happen to us though.

Ariel: (laughs) yep

Mario: When I get home I am going to take the biggest shower, relax then take a big nap.

Ariel: Same here, now I know how adults feel when they are on there own in life, I don't think I am, ready for it just yet.

Mario: Yep, I'm going to live the rest of my teen years to the fullest and not miss a thing.

Ariel: Yeah can't believe a thing like this makes us think about our life ahead of us.

Mario: Yeah, but you learn from your mistakes and this is something that I will never forget EVER in my life.

Ariel: Yeah me too, I'll even put it on a post it to remember and bring it with me everyday.

Mario: Yeah lets stop with this talking I think I'm getting sick from all this talking about our lives and on top of that it's making me home sick.

Ariel: Yeah me too.

Mario: Let's get out of here and go find a place to spend the night like a shelter or something.

Ariel: Ok that's a good idea.

Ariel: Let's get going.

Mario: yeah Ok.

(They look up a couple blocks up ahead and see a homeless shelter they decide to go in)

Ariel: Well it's better than nothing.

Mario: yeah hope we can get a good place to sleep in there.

Ariel: And just think that we got a night to sleep and tomorrow we can think of a way to get home but no matter what we will get home.

Mario: Yeah I hope so (Yawns) I'm going in there.

Ariel: Ok me too I'm not going to stay out here alone.

Scene4

Setting: In the shelter at night Ariel and Mario are thinking about how to get home without calling anyone.

Mario: Whoa man I can't believe that we have been in Manhattan this long and still have not gotten home.

Ariel: Yeah I agree, you think that we would be smarter than this to get home.

Mario: You know maybe we should call someone to pick us up, we may get into trouble but at least we get home.

Ariel: yeah but how long will the trouble last?

Mario: Man, I don't know but that isn't such a bad idea, you just have to learn after your mistakes and take what the consequence will be.

Ariel: Yeah true, when we get up tomorrow then we will go and call someone but whom?

Mario: I don't know but we will take care of that tomorrow.

(They go to sleep and wake in the morning and get their things together and leave)

Ariel: So whom are we going to call that can pick us up?

Mario: Maybe my uncle, he got a car and even though he will definitely yell when I tell him what happened we might just be able to get home.

Ariel: Yeah we can call him if that doesn't work then we can call my sister's boyfriend he got a car.

Mario: Ok then it's settled.

(They go to a payphone not far from the shelter and calls collect the number of his uncle)

(Phone rings 9 times)

Mario: (angry) what is up he is usually home at this time?

Ariel: I don't know he's not my uncle.

Mario: let me try again.

(Mario try's again and gets the same results)

Mario: (Bangs receiver against phone) Damn, Damn how come he won't answer?

Ariel: Don't get angry he probably just went out.

Mario: (calming down) Yeah you're probably right.

Ariel: In the meantime let me call my sister's boyfriend.

(He picks up phone and dials it connects)

Ariel: Yeah hi Donald this is Ariel you know my sis' brother?

Donald: Yeah I know who this is what you want?

Ariel: My friend and me are in a problem.

Donald: What happened?

Ariel: Well we were going to go somewhere on the train but we both fell asleep and wound up in Manhattan and since the train is off the tracks because of repairs we don't know how to get home so I was calling you to ask if you can come and pick us up?

Donald: You should have told me before, anyway where are you?

Ariel: On Lexington and 21st street.

Donald: Ok wait there and I will come and pick you up.

Ariel: Ok bye and thank you.

Donald: Ok bye.

Ariel: (Hangs up phone) see we are going home.

Mario: (happy) Yes! Yes! Yes!

(They wait for 40 minutes)

Ariel: what is up its been 40 min. and he isn't here yet.

Mario: I know wonders what happened?

Ariel: Let me call him.

(Picks up phone and dials a different person answers)

Ariel: Hello? Who is this?

Unknown person: Hello this is EMT officer shangle who are you?

Ariel: I'm his girlfriend's brother what happened?

EMT Shangle: He got into a car accident he is stable but we need to get him to a hospital immediately good bye we have to bring him now.

(Hangs up)

Ariel: (Has tears in eyes) Oh no.

Mario: What happened?

Ariel: Donald got into a car accident.

Mario: Oh no. How are we going to get home now?

Ariel: I don't know but I think I know a way.

Scene5

Setting: Ariel thinks he knows a way to get home. They are on the street while Mario listens in to see what Ariel has in mind.

Mario: So what is it?

Ariel: I think that we should Go and call my sister.

Mario: Yeah but I thought you said that she would get mad?

Ariel: Who gives a damn? We are in enough trouble as it is.

Mario: Yeah I guess you are right.

(They go to a phone and dial her number collect)

Ariel: Hello?

Jenny (Ariel's Sister): Yeah hi who is this?

Ariel: It's me Ariel you know, your brother?

Jenny: Oh yeah Hi how's it goin what you want?

Ariel: Yeah can you come into Manhattan to pick us up?

Jenny: Yeah I guess you will have to wait about a half-hour though.

Ariel: Ok we are near Central Park ok?

Jenny: OK

Ariel: OK then bye.

Jenny: Bye.

(Hangs up phone)

Ariel: Well we got a ride home but it will be her in about a half-hour.

Mario: OK then, we wait that's all.

Ariel: Yeah, wait.

Ariel: Well let's go in the park and get a hot dog or something.

Mario: OK.

(They go to a hot dog vendor and get two hot dogs, they then go and sit on a concrete bench)

Ariel: (chewing) MMMMMMM Good.

Mario: Yeah this is kinda good.

Mario: Well we are finally going to get home.

Ariel: Yeah an adventure finally ending.

Mario: Yep, Never will I go to any thing that has to do with Manhattan again!

Ariel: Yep (agrees)

Mario: Well it's been 20 minutes Hope she gets here soon.

Ariel: Yeah hope so.

(Another 20 minutes pass and Mario is starting to get frustrated)

Mario: Well when is she going to come?

Ariel: Hold your horses she will be here soon.

Mario: Ok.

(All of a sudden a green teal color Nissan X-terra pulls up and its jenny inside)

Jenny: Well aren't you guys goin to come on in?

Mario&Ariel: Yeah

Jenny: So why were you out here anyway?

Mario: We were goin to go somewhere but they were closed so since the way we got here didn't work anymore we decided to call you.

Jenny: No I know that you are lying what happened?

Ariel: We were goin to go to a clothes store and we took a cab here but we didn't have enough money so we called you.

Jenny: (Takes lie) Ok well good thing you called mom and dad are back home and so are yours Mario.

Mario: Where are they?

Jenny: they are at my house.

Mario: (breathes a sigh of relief) Ok.

Jenny: Well let's go home!

Mario: Yeah.

Ariel: Yeah.

(So in the green X-terra they go home to Brooklyn.)
