Roof raising to be:  2003

Our good Feng Shui house will be made up of 8 equal (12' X 12') spaces or "cells."  It is essentially a square house, less one cell to spare a robust pine tree, as well as eliminate a cell with less than desirable energies (3,2).

There are three floors, from bottom to top:

  • Basement/garage

  • Main floor with kitchen, great room, bedroom, bathroom;

  • Loft with two bedrooms, sitting area-kitchenette, and bathroom.

Log exterior. Drywall interior. Wood construction.
No visible interior beams. Bull-nosed corners.

North East Sitting (Mountain)

  • Main floor: Southwest-facing double glass doors in House Trigram A (husband and wife will likely use this entrance to enhance the house's Sheng Qi.)  Two other entrances in cells with House Trigrams E, C, D.

  • Decks and walkways will encircle house on the main floor, 360 degrees.

  • The laundry, pantry, and kitchen sink area will be in the House Trigram H cell with an island with a stove top in the Center cell.  A cook working at the countertop stove will face the SW and will be able to see the main entrance as well as the two side entrances.

  •  A bar height counter with bar stools will front the stove; it will block the view of the stove and oven from the entrance doors.

  • Keep in mind that while the House and Personal Trigrams and the significance of the directions are important Feng Shui considerations, the more specific energies that interact with time and space as determined by the ADVANCED FENG SHUI:  XUAN KONG method take precedence and override the following:

A  (Prosperity or Sheng Qi/Vitality) Direction  – Life, Energy, Prosperity, Wealth & Respectability.

This is the best location for creating wealth and bringing prosperity to the home. The front door, master bedroom, study or any room associated with your work are best situated here. Keep it clean, clear and well lit.

"This direction brings progress, promotion, wealth, and vitality; good for the front door, the kitchen door, an office, or desk". ~ SYWUSFS

"The Chinese text says this is an area where you can seek children (as well as wealth)." ~ Lorraine Wilcox

SW: The primary entrance is located here. 12' X12' space is part of Great Room.
May be Dining, Living, or Lounging/Reading Area.

B (Health or Tian Yi/Celestial Doctor ) Direction  – Health, Mentors, Helpful People & Safety

This area of your house or room brings good health. It is the best area for dining rooms and for bedrooms of family members who may be unwell. Without health in your family it is difficult to bring other auspicious benefits to your home and family.

"This direction brings vitality and good heath; good for master bedroom, dining room, and doors." ~ SYWUSFS

"The Chinese text says that this area is good for averting illness, as one might expect from the celestial doctor." ~ Lorraine Wilcox

NW: The stairwell (staircase asuppress bad energies, hence they should be placed in bad sectors) and book alcove are located here.

C (Longevity or Yan Nian/ /Lengthened Years) or Nien Yin Direction – Relationships, Family, Love, Good Fortune & Harmonious Relationships.

This direction is the one for a family room or bedrooms for married couples. It also includes longevity and is favorable for older family members.

"This direction brings peace, harmony and good health; good for bedrooms, for elderly folk, and the dining room." ~ SYWUSFS

"The Chinese text says that the area is good to fight illness and increase longevity."  ~ Lorraine Wilcox

W: A side entrance is located here. 12' X12' space is part of Great Room.
May be Dining, Living, or Lounging/Reading Area.

D (Prime) or Fu Wei/Lying Down) Direction – Harmony, Peace, Stability, Growth and Good Management

Areas in this direction should include bedrooms and studies. Sleeping with the crown of your head in this direction will give you the best sleep. Excellent for meditation and spiritual development.

"The same direction the back of the house faces; a good side of the house for bedrooms and doors." ~ SYWUSFS

"This is called 'lying-down position' because it has no change. It is inactive and stable. It is always in the sitting or mountain section of the house. This area has mild healing nutrients."  ~ Lorraine Wilcox

NE: A bedroom and back entrance are located here.

    ~

E (Disaster or Huo Hai/Injury) Direction – Minor Accidents, Occasional Irritations, Mishaps, Problems, Obstacles, Arguments and Money Loss

Bedrooms, studies and other important rooms are best kept away from this area. It causes disputes, quarrels, anger and irritation. Toilets, storerooms and unused rooms are best suited here.

"This direction brings arguments, legal problems, and anger; good place for the toilet, pantry, or storage area." ~ SYWUSFS

"Think of the English saying, 'I felt like the rug was pulled out from under me.' This describes a life-shattering experience, and the huo hai change is a picture of this expression." ~ Lorraine Wilcox

SE: A side entrance is located here. 12' X12' space is part of Great Room.
May be Dining, Living, or Lounging/Reading Area.

F (Six Shar or Liu Sha/Six Evils) Direction –  Robbery, Injury, Loss, Malicious Encounters and Failed Relationships.

This area symbolizes loss, theft, burglary, being cheated and betrayed. Not a good area for couples or family areas. Kitchens and toilets are suitable rooms for this area.

"This direction is related to procrastination, loss, and scandals; good for the toilet or kitchen." ~ SYWUSFS

"The Chinese text mentions robbery. Liu sha causes illness." ~ Lorraine Wilcox

    This space is outside.

G (Five Ghosts or Wu Gui) Direction – Disharmony, Disruption, Accidents, Fire, Burglary, Loss of Income from Redundancy and Abandonment of Friends.

This area signifies laziness and loss of energy. Not a good area for telephones, desks or any other form of communication. Keep clear, tidy and organized.

"This direction is related to fire, theft, and financial problems; good for the toilet or storage area." ~ SYWUSFS

N: Bathroom, dressing area and closet are located here. Toilets, like staircases,  suppress bad energies, hence they should be placed in bad sectors.

H (Death or Jue Ming/Exhausted Fate) Direction – Total Loss, Destruction, Ill Health, Death, and Misfortune.

This is the worst direction of a house or room. It signifies poor health, disease and misfortune. Spend as little time in this area as possible. Best kept as a spare room or storeroom. Keep it bright and light.

"This direction is related to accidents, illness, and other misfortunes; good place for the toilet (but never the front door)."~ SYWUSFS

SE: Laundry, Pantry, Kitchen Sink and Refrigerator are located here.
(Rest of the kitchen is in the center of the house).

"The study of Feng Shui is like an onion.  You can peel away the layers one by one and discover that there are other influences on levels.  Feng Shui is truly a lifelong study."
~ Chris Shaul, Feng Shui Practitioner
