Nick Morrison was born on June 29, 1982 with rodeo in his blood. With his father, Dave, being a Saddle Bronc Rider, he knew rodeo was what he wanted to pursue, In the spring of 1993, Cody Custer, the newly crowned PRCA World Champion Bull Rider, did a bull riding clinic at the Morrison ranch in Interior, SD. At age 10, Nick, entered the clinic, absolutely infactuated with the presence of a World Champion. At that moment, though, Nick found himself falling in love with the sport, and he knew it was what he was suppose to pursue. Throughout the years Nick went up the ranks of the Junior Bulls and Senior Bulls in the National Little Britches Rodeo Association, where in 1999, he became the National Youth Board Secretary for the NLBRA. Nick then stayed close at home to ride in the SDRA and NRCA, where in his rookie year of 2000 Nick finished in the top 5 in the SDRA standings. In 2001 he finished once again in the top 5, despite sitting out over 85% of the season with injuries. Nick has now started to step out and ride in the PBR Touring Cup, where injuries have once again held him back from advancing. On October 23, 2003 Nick received Reconstructive Surgery on his right shoulder. So he will be out for another 6 months, but be looking for Nick to make a strong comeback after all of his time out. .
With his dad now being a pastor, Nick also had another calling on his life. At age 12, Nick received his calling into the ministry. His ministry would reach people through two things, music and bullriding. With his music he would reach people by sharing his talents of singing and multiple instrument playing through songs that he writes. And with his bull riding he would reach people by sharing his talent and knowledge of the sport with others.
In the winter of 2000, Nick, along with his brother Nate and close bull riding friends Tim Stuen, Jason Stuen, and Jason Hunsaker, started a ministry called Bull Riders For Christ, with the goal to reach the Cowboys and Cowgirls in the rodeos that they attended.
At a young age Nick started to learn Bull Riding through the instruction of now friends Cody Custer and Tony Shoulders. In 2000 Nick started instructing at Rodeo Bible Camps and Bull Riding Clinics throughout the nation, either by himself or with others. Throughout the last 3 years Nick has had the honor of instructing alongside World Champions like Cody Custer and Scott Mendes, or other top Professional Bull Riders like Wiley Petersen, Chad Denton, BJ Kramps, Beau Lindley, Jody Newberry, Royd Doyal, Brent Vincent, Willis Trosclair, Jeremy Grieble, and many others.
Nick's goal in his instructing is to teach the Basics of Bullriding to his students. He knows that each Rider has their own style, so he tries to work off of the style of the student, to help them excel in their own talents and abilities. |
