Goodnight Seattle - 1 Year On

On October 23rd 2000, a new website opened. It wasn't very big and only a few people knew about it, but its popularity grew so much that by its 1st birthday it had had over 4000 visitors. That website is of course Goodnight Seattle.

When the website opened, it was much smaller than it is now. The Episode Guide for instance only covered Season 1 and a few other episodes from the other seasons. Season 8 had yet to start so there was no page for that. Those early episode guides did not have many of the features there now. There were no Martin knows..... or Roz loves..... or Where Everybody Knows Your Name - these were added in much later.

The Character pages were much the same as they are now, except there was no page for Kenny - he came along later. The Other Characters page was also missing characters such as Lorna or Faye. The same applies with the Actor pages - indeed it was just last month that Tom McGowan (Kenny) finally got his own page.

There was no Lists and References page. Most of the pages of that section were there from the start but were not grouped together until May this year. The Guest Callers page had its link on every page - it has now been demoted to the Lists and References section and its link has been replaced with the Behind The Scenes section - again, relatively new and not around in 2000.

The Fan Fiction section had just 1 story - my first one, When Daphne Met Frasier. The feedback section was empty (makes sense as no-one had seen the website then to comment on it!!! LOL) and the Home Page had just a welcome rather than the various notes and updates it does now.

When it opened, GNS could be found at www.goodnightseattle.com. I'd registered this name with Namezero in August 2000 when I began to build the site and thought the name would be mine for ever. However during early 2001 Namezero changed their policy - from then on you only got 1 year free. As I did not wish to pay for the name, the site moved to its current address.

On 9/11. I shut the site down for a few days as a mark of respect to all the victims, amongst them Frasier co-creator David Angell and his wife Lynn. They will be missed.

Over the year, episode guides for Seasons 2 - 5, 7 and 8; fan fictions, feedback, many pages in the Lists and References section and the Behind The Scenes section have all been added.
