2001 RACING RULES
SCHEDULE
1. The legs for the Monza will rotate each year with the exception of Madera being the last leg, unless at which time Madera is no longer able to Host the last leg. The dates for the 2001 Monza Series will be as follows:

SIGN-IN
1. $ 35.00
2. $ 10.00 from sign-in to the Monza for:
A. $ 1.50 toward the mailing of flyers and copies of point standings.
B. $ 2.00 towards participation plaques for drivers who participate in 3 of the 4 Monza races.
C. $ 3.50 towards a Monza Championship Jacket for each point’s winner in a qualifying class.
D. $ 3.00 towards the overall trophies for 1st through 5th place or 50% of class.
3. Sign-in will be open from 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. on Friday night, controlled practice will be 6:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M. or 2 sets which ever come first. NO OPEN PRACTICE
A. Qualifying will be inverted from sign-in order.
4. Late sign-in:
A. A late sign-in shall be considered any car that is signed in and present for qualification after the car’s class and division has completed their original qualifying session.
B. Late sign-ins will always start at the back of properly signed in cars.
C. There will be no late sign-ins allowed in full classes after timing clocks have been pulled. (A late sign-in can only occur if there is already a semi in that division or if it does not create a semi).
POINTS
1. Sign-in Points: To obtain 30 sign-in points, a car needs to attempt to qualify or race.
2. Qualifying Points: Fast Time - 3.5 2nd fast - 2.5 3rd fast - 1.5
3. Racing Points:
A. The Heat Race Winner will receive 10 points, 2nd 9 points, 3rd 8 points etc.
B. The Main Event Winner will receive 20 points, 2nd 18 points, 3rd 17 points, etc.
C. A car that drops out will receive points for that position.
D. If a rain occurs, points will be awarded upon completion of each event (Qual-Heat-Main). To get sign-in points you need to sign-in.
E. 4 cars constitute a class - at a minimum of 3 to 4 races.
F. 3rd place in the Semi will receive 9 points, 4th 8 points, 5th 7 points etc.
G. No racing points will be awarded if a driver is black flagged for a driving infraction. (Call)
H. Any driver who takes warm-up laps under its own power, but breaks before the green flag is dropped, will receive last place points for the race entered.
I. The official finish of the race will be announced after each race, pending tech.
J. Each leg of the Monza will give out trophies 1st through 4th places in all divisions.
4. Year-end Awards
A. If a tie exists, placement will be determined by total qualifying points, then Main points, then Heat points.
B. To be eligible for a Monza championship, you MUST participate in 1 division within a class, 3 out of 4 Monza Series Races.
C. Trophies will be awarded 1st through 5th places or 50% of class, EXCEPT NOVICE. Jackets to go to the 1st place finishers, EXCEPT NOVICE.
ADVANCING
1. Junior Division drivers will carry points up to 1 point under the leader in the Senior Division.
5. Any driver will only carry points into that division up to the last place position (with as many races completed) in points.
NOVICE
1. NO NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIP WILL BE AWARDED.
2. Once you begin the Monza as a Novice, you’re only eligible for one of the following:
A. When a Novice Graduates into the Jr. or Sr. Stock or Honda Division, the driver will only carry points into that division up to the last place position (with as many races completed) in points.
B. The Novice class will receive full sign-in points and racing points.
C. Participation plaques will be given to all Novices remaining in the Novice Division as the last leg of the Monza.
D. The Monza Committee and the Judges will determine ROOKIE OF THE YEAR from Novice transferring into a Stock or Honda Division. (1 each in the Jr. & Sr. Division). They will receive a jacket.
BLACK FLAG-MONZA RULES
1. Judges:
A. The Monza Committee will split the duties of Head Judge. The Judge assignments for each division shall be determined prior to and announced at the Saturday Morning Pit Meeting.
B. The Host Club will be responsible for assigning the 3 judges for all consolation and semi races (with the Head Judge for that division in attendance).
C. Judges will be responsible for the finish lineup along with the Scorers when there is a call made.
D. The Judge’s responsibility begins when a car enters the track.
E. The Host Club shall provide the Monza Committee with a sign-in list for which a Judges list will be derived.
F. Judges decisions will be decided by majority rule, with 2/3 vote considered as passing.
G. Judges will be instructed of the format at a special meeting, after the decision has been made as to whom will be judging the classes.
2. Black Flagging:
A. Any loud arguing, profanity or obscene gestures will result in immediate disqualification and the driver will LOSE ALL POINTS for the weekend and will be asked to leave the premises.
B. A driver Black Flagged for a driving infraction (call) will receive NO points for racing but will keep qualifying points.
TECHNICAL
1. No one can or will avoid Tech, doing so will result in loss of Qualifying and Racing Points.
2. 1st through 3rd place finishers and Fast Time will be impounded. 3 classes will be drawn from a hat by the Monza Committee for tear down.
3. Tech Directors from each Host Club will assist in Tech at all 4 legs of the Monza Series.
4. Fee for engine protest will be $ 100.00 and must be accompanied by a written protest and be given to the Track Director or Regional Director within 15 minutes after the event.
5. All engines will be sealed.
RACING FORMAT
1. Handler/Driver pit meeting will be at 8:30 A.M. Saturday.
2. All tracks must start practice at 9:00 A.M. Saturday.
3. There will be 1 complete set of practice with 7 cars for 5 minutes. Cars will then qualify in reverse sign-in order, hot out of the chute, with up to 10 warm up laps and 3 qualifying laps back to back.
4. All 15 lap heat races will be a full inversion from qualifying. The first heat (if more than a full field of cars) the 1st, 3rd, 5th fastest, etc. The second heat will consist of 2nd, 4th, 6th fastest, etc. No Time will start in the back. No more than 10 cars will be in the heat, consi, or semi races.
5. A driver black flagged for a driving incident (3 DOTs, parts or fluid) will receive last place points at that point of the race. It will be scored as a DNF.
6. All main events will be a full inversion from points. The main event line-ups will be determined by qualifying and heat race points. DNF, DNS, BF & FBF will go to the back.
7. All consi and semi races will be raced on Saturday up to curfew, if consi’s are not started by 8:00 for Juniors and 9:30 for all others, semi’s will run the next day.
TRANSFERS
1. 1 car will transfer from the consi to the semi. 2 cars will transfer from the semi to the main.
2. In all races the cars transferring into the race will go to the back of the cars already qualified to the race event.
3. Junior division and all Novices will have only six qualified cars for the main with transfers going to the back. All others will be eight.
4. The semi will start either 7 for Junior division and Novice, or 9 for all other classes due to one car transferring from the consi, with all transfers going to the back.
CONSI’S AND SEMI’S
1. All consi and semi race events will be started straight up, with the transfer from the consi to the semi going to the back.
2. If a car has no time it will start behind those that have qualified.
FUEL
1. The Host Club will provide fresh gas and fuel, purchased no more than 7 days prior to the race meet on Saturday and Sunday.
2. The AA’s and 1/2’s will not be stopped for refueling until 70 laps, green and yellow, have completed following the call for line-up.
MAIN EVENT LINE-UPS
1. Mains will run in new order depending on which leg is being raced.
2. Each Host Club will be responsible for operating their own tower. The tower shall make available sign-in sheets, qualifying and racing sheets for points.
3. Practice before mains will be 5 minutes; semi’s 3 minutes and consi’s 15 laps. Heat races will receive 10 laps prior to the call for line-ups.
GENERAL RULES
1. The Monza Committee shall have final responsibility on all decisions regarding the running of the races.
2. In case of a tie, the Monza Chairman’s vote shall decide.
3. Any outstanding fees, checks, etc. must be paid to any QMA club prior to racing any leg of the Monza.
4. ALL CARS MUST BE SIGNED IN BEFORE THEY PRACTICE.
5. Random checking of fuel/gas or oil will be tested by the Regional Tech.
6. If the club Treasurer has not paid the Monza fee by the end of the main’s, a fine of $ 100.00 will be paid to the Monza.
7. All practice, qualifying, heats, consi’s, semi’s and main’s will run in this order.
