Who? What? Where? When? Why?

Who?

The Good Times Quarter Midget Racing Association is a charter member of the national organization, Quarter Midgets of America. We are in Region 11 along with the Pomona Valley Quarter Midget Racing Association. Our membership is comprised of families with varying backgrounds, nationalities, and occupations. But, we all have a common goal of participating in and promoting quarter midget racing.

Our club meetings are on the fourth Tuesday of every month at Luna's Pizzeria and Italian Restaurant located at 349 Pollasky in Clovis. Meetings begin at 6:30 PM.

What?

Quarter midget racing began in the Los Angeles area and has spread nationwide and into Canada. Quarter midgets resemble scaled-down midget and sprint race cars. All cars have full roll cages and bumpers. Seat belts and arm restraints are mandatory. Also required are driving suits, gloves, neck collars, and most importantly, helmets. Racing takes place on 1/20 mile banked oval tracks that are either paved or dirt. Up to 9 or 11 cars, depending on class, make up a field. Racing consists of qualifying, heat races, semis, and main events. Awards can vary from medals and plaques to trophies and savings bonds. There are 15 classes depending on experience, age, weight, and engine type.

Where?

Our home track is located in Madera, California, in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley in Central California. We are next to the Madera Speedway, the fastest 1/3 mile paved oval in the west. Take the Cleveland Ave. exit west from Highway 99 and take the first left. There is no charge to watch our races. Click here to see how to get here.

When?

Our racing season begins in March and ends in October. Additionally, we host the Las Vegas Winternationals in December. Click here to see our current schedule.

Why?

Because we love our kids and racing is fun. Lot's of work, but fun. Long hours, but we are having fun. The whole family is involved. This may be the best racing experience available to kids.
